I haven't had much luck lately with varying illnesses and feel like I have had the run around from the specialists as far as answers are concerned.
But yesterday I had cause to phone my GP surgery with a new issue. Left a message with the receptionist, who promised me a phone call from a GP, and approx 30 seconds later I got a call. She gave me an appointment for later in the morning, and by 12 o'clock I was in hospital.
Taken through into a Rapid Response unit that only deals with people coming in through their GP. It cuts out phoning 111 and/or waiting in A&E.
By 1 o'clock I had had a barrage of bloods taken, an ECG done a chest Xray. and a covid/flu/RSV swab taken.
Results were in and nothing alarming stuck out, so while I didn't get any answers as to the cause I did get answers that said that nothing serious seemed to be causing my new and worrying symptoms.
So discharged just after 4. It had been a long and tiring day, but shows how well the system works when it works well.
Have to say felt sorry for the rest of the people in the waiting room, at least one ( maybe more) had been there when I went in and there were approx 25 people sat by this time. Not sure where they go when the unit shuts at 6pm. Ambulances queued outside and no beds inside.
