Shingles and pneumococcal vaccines side effects
Just had a text to invite me to have this. Has anyone had theirs yet and if so, what side effects did you have.
I can actually book for tomorrow but am going on Friday. 😊

Had mine Tuesday. Moderna. Its Thursday today, my arm still aches if pressured but thats fading fast.
Mostly back to normal.
Fierce headache by nighttime Tuesday that lead on to the next day. Controlled by Paracetamol. A general feeling of achey fatigue for x2 days in all. Not bad when compared with the option of reaction to catching something more serious?
I've had my invitation too, but am waiting till I can speak to the GP first. I've got some anomalies in recent blood tests so not sure if I should have one.
My DH had his yesterday morning. He was very ill in the night and could hardly move this morning. Aches and pains all over, hardly able to walk. Lunch time today had two paracetamol and went back to sleep. I rang him a bit ago and he was much more perky.
So relieved
Mr C had Moderna Spikevax last week, no side effects at all, nit even a sore arm. I postponed mine as I had a throat infection, my turn next week. Both booked at a local pharmacy, which is our preference, our GP practice always offers vaccination at a less convenient location.
Had mine yesterday (Wed) Moderna never had any effects before but last night was violently sick. Hadn't eaten anything strange. I do put it down to the jab. Fine today!
Was invited by our main surgery to make an appointment for the new booster but only if I make the journey across city to the main surgery. Too many bus changes for me being disabled & too old to do! So guess I will go without unless it is made available elsewhere!
Only chemists are doing the covid injections in this area gp surgery not participating. Dh has his booked for May.
Had my yesterday morning - slightly achy arm by late p.m. as per, but nothing today.

Mine is booked for the wknd but have had dreadful cough/cold/flu like symptoms fo almost 2 weeks now so don't know whether I should go or not. Tried phoning the surgery but no. 11 in the queue at the last attempt and then cut off. Any ideas?
I have found that my local chemist is a reliable source of advice. I consult him before bothering a doctor, and often find I don’t need to.
You could try speaking to yours. Even ove4 the phone I’m sure they will advise. I believe their training is similar to a doctor’s, but I certainly can’t fault mine. Also, you don’t have to wait weeks for an appointment!
I have just had mine this morning, never had any effects that I noticed.. my friends also.. not heard anyone say any effects.oh I am 88 , going on.....

I had mine a few days ago and my arm was achey for a couple of days. I also found that, when I turned over in bed onto my injected arm, I woke up. That lasted for a couple of nights too, but no big deal.
All manageable though and a lot better than Covid in my opinion. I take whatever is offered (after discussing it with my lovely pharmacist, who is always happy to discuss any wobbles I might have). You can’t complain about being ill if you haven’t taken all the advice you have been given about keeping well.
I am 79 by the way, if that helps.
Just got back from having mine. Made an appointment two days ago but it was also a drop in clinic in Tesco's carpark. I was the only one there, outnumbered by staff.
Glad to hear it seems to be moderna as I think that one seems slightly more effective.
I don't thour GP surgery have done them for the last couple of years. I just book on the NHS app for a pharmacy.
I'm putting it off a few weeks as we had the last ones in December so I want to space them out a bit better.
My partner and I had the Moderna Spikevax JN.1 jab on Saturday 5 April. Both felt a bit hot-and-cold the next day and my arm was a bit sore for 2 or 3 days, but that’s all. However, I did have a massive nosebleed from one nostril during Sunday night (a problem I’ve had on and off for over a decade), and as it was the first time I’d had one of those for nearly 3 years, I suspect it was related to that vaccine – which does apparently have more side effects than the Pfizer alternative. It was noticeable at our GP surgery that there were notices everywhere telling you which vaccine was being used, and everyone who had it was specifically given that information at the time.

Had ours two weeks ago, Moderna Spikevax. Only side effect was a sore arm for a few days. You don't need to wait for an invitation. Go onto NHS website and book jab. Very easy to do. If you haven't done it before you will need your NHS number.
Had Moderna last week. From the evening I had aches all over and was very tired and stiff. Took 2 paracetamol and slept okay. The next day was the same but the day after that I was fine. This isn't unusual for me, I have side-effects from flu-vaccines as well.
Even though the vaccine can't prevent us catching Covid the short-lived side-effects are worth it to me in order to reduce the risk of hospitalisation.
My husband had the same Moderna vaccination on the same day and had no side effects beyond a slightly sore arm later in the day (he rarely gets side-effects after vaccinations).
We also wear FFP3 (N99) masks every time we leave the house and still do not have anyone else in the house. After 5 years it may seem extreme but watching my daughters life seriously restricted by long covid brings home the potential damage the virus can do. It's not a lottery we want a ticket for.
[We're both over 60 with chronic but invisible disabilities]
We had ours (Moderna) last Saturday, sore arms and Mr Nick was ok , I had slight headache that evening and shivery on the Sunday but no problem at all since !
After two vaccinations, I had raised heart rates, so I had to miss the last one. And I won't have it thus time, either, unless the Dr says it's okay.
My hubby was invited for his a couple of weeks ago but decided to put it off as he had an important function to attend and was worried he’d not be able to go if he suffered side effects. Oh the irony- he got Covid so couldn’t attend the function after all. 🙄

Not had one or any message to have one yet our surgery is usually very good but have heard nothing. Had Covid booster and flu jab last Autumn but nothing since
Not everyone gets the Spring one. Over 75s and immuno compromised only. However they seem to ask more people to get the Autumn one.
I had mine on Saturday. No problems. Arm was less sore than previously.
I had the Moderna last Wednesday, slightly sore arm, but otherwise ok.
