My Youngest daughter has had a heart problem since she was 7 she is now 36 married with a 4 year son, her heart has become enlarged and she needs a valve replacement and a pathway ablation, she also has severe endometriosis and was being put through a forced menopause but because the heart is now so bad they have stopped this for a while.
Today she came round in tears with a letter from her cardiologist , he has been talking to her gynae surgeon and the cardiologist she had as a child plus the dietician she is under as she cannot put weight on, between them they have worked out a plan of action , they need to get her as fit as possible and she needs fattening up , the tears were happy tears that all these people have got together and they are all working with each other looking after her, it is like a weight has been lifted this is the NHS at its best and we are very thankful for their care . They saved her life a few years ago when her appendix's burst and she got sepsis and had a blood clot in her lung again the care was fantastic.
Her cardiologist has given her his mobile number she can use if she has any worries or if her heart is too fast he will see her in A@E if we let him know we are on our way.

I know the NHS has a bad reputation but when something like this happens it shows that it is not all bad they work incredibly hard and in my daughters case they have made her feel safe at a time when she is ill and very scared .

That’s wonderful, Sal.

I’ve had excellent care from the NHS recently, various departments working together. I wrote and hand delivered thank you cards! Including to the GP and my local pharmacy.

I think that's really important, making her feel safe & that they care about her when she's having such a difficult time.

Thanks for a positive post about the NHS.I would still feel safer with the NHS than a private provider, personally.

Thank you for posting this surfingsal. We always hear the bad stuff and not enough of the good stuff. The NHS saved my life 3 years ago too.

I think there must be something about cardiac departments. My DH has received nothing but excellent and thoughtful care from our local cardiac department. Pity about the rest of the hospital.

How wonderful that your daughter is being cared for, and cared about, by such a wide group of specialists who all have her very best interests at heart and are collectively pulling out all the stops for her.

What a great support for all the family, and every best wish for your beloved daughter 🤗

That's such good news surfingsal. I hope all goes well for your daughter.
The NHS, overstretched, understaffed, and underfunded as it is, gives wonderful service to so many people every day of every year. Long may it be celebrated ( and protected).
