Immediate denture

Maybe you just need to wear it more?
I'd try it for a few more days before you do anything.

My husband has just had a front tooth out, previously had a crown.. just got this temporary plate, it’s the tiniest little triangle I’ve ever seen.
He’s done nothing but complain about the pain since last week, as it’s too tight. He’s supposed to wear it for three months, until the gum heals, then have his bridge fitted.
I have had a plate made for me, missing teeth at both sides. It’s rubs on the roof of my mouth. I can stand to eat with it in my mouth, tbh, I haven’t put it back in. My mum is the same with her new plate.
Goodness knows how people go on with full mouth of dentures.

Have any of you raised these concerns with your dentists Mt61?
Mr J wears full dentures, due to an incident many years ago, he’s had them for nine years, no one can notice and he has had no problems, he wears them 24/7.

I’ve had a top denture with 3 teeth for about 14 years, sometimes when I put it in it feels tight and awkward but it soon settles, I always use poly grip, just one small blob in the middle.

I think it's the initial period of getting them adjusted that's the problem.
I had a partial denture for ,30 years for back teeth and once adjusted properly, there was no problem.
As I have now got a temporary for those back teeth plus two front teeth I am starting all over again. Plus the fact that I had a metal one before (so much better even though they are expensive) and now have an acrylic so that more teeth can be added if and when required
Even though my dentist is private and very expensive, I feel she doesn't always understand how it is.
I will have this all over again if I decide to have a new denture made after 3 months.
It is also very expensive!

Has anyone got a miracle cure for denture sores? I've tried salt water and bi-carb. Also Oraldene. Nothing is working.
The sore is actually under my old upper denture, round the gum line on my tooth. I think it was caused by the new lower denture pushing the upper one up, before it was adjusted.
Dentist is away all week. It's annoying me and I'm concerned in case it gets infected or damages the tooth. I don't want to lose another one!!

I went to a dental technician who adjusted mine, I was away from home at the time, it meant I wasn’t without my denture for any longer than an hour or so. It cost me about £60. This is my original denture, I have never needed another.

Sensodyne toothpaste might help. Mint tea is good for mouth soreness.

That's exactly what my mother did. She just couldn't get used to her denture and eventually somebody recommended a technician who solved her problem completely without too much trouble.

I have had full top denture for 3 years ,and partial denture for around 10 years. Due to Sjogrens, my teeth were dreadful. Crowns constsntly falling out. I resisted top denture for several years. But it was the best thing I did. When I occasionally get ulcers I use Amblesol liquid. It works very quickly. Hope this helps.

Your jaw shape will alter during the course of a day or varying weather temperatures. This is what makes it uncomfortable. Are you wearing an adhesive cushion pad under them?

IT all sounds most painful absolutely dread having dentures as the fit does seem to depend on how good your dentist is. Hope you're soon pain free ExDancer.

I believe that generally dentists are no good at fitting dentures, in Ireland anyway. The person to go to is the dental technician, without a doubt, not to mention how much less expensive technicians tend to be.

I found iglu very good sort like a wax covering, also try popping plate/denture in warm water before wearing.

Plates sorted now. Mine filed Down by the dentist. My husband went today, dentist filed down the tooth on his. We are both very happy now 👍🏻😊

As it is a partial lower denture, I can't use cushion pads.
The sores have improved with bi-carb and salt water rinses.
I am dreading getting my permanent ones made in 3 months, as it will start all over again.
I'm wondering if I would be better going direct to a lab technician, but as I still have some teeth, the one near me requires a dentist's referral.
