Cutting your toenails

My toe nails are quite brittle and shatter if I try to cut them. I recently bought a Toenail file from Boots and find it much better.
A weekly file to keep nails neat ☺️

I am partially sighted, so I can barely see my toes, never mind a toenail. I went to a podiatrist for years, and the price was increasing by £5 every six months. When it reached £55 for 10 minutes work, I found somebody else, and what a difference.

I have those silly little nails on my smallest toes (pinkies) like TerriBull, too. Not nail-shaped at all, more like miniature horns pointing upwards. On both of them. Maybe we share some DNA.

I have one of those longer than big toe toes too bluebelle. Be very careful cutting it.

I can’t cut my own rather curved toe nails so see a podiatrist every 2 or 3 months when they grow long enough to scrape the floor. My last podiatrist charged £55 and I didn’t get a massage.
I changed to another more reasonably priced one but she left my nails longer than the previous one so will probably have to go sooner next time, but will ask her to cut them a bit shorter so they last a bit longer.
My original podiatrist cut my nails so badly that I ended up needing a nasty operation to remove nail sides and into the root on one ogf my toes, took 18 months to heal so would not want to risk a repeat so be very careful how you cut them if you do them yourself.

My mum can’t cut hers , so she sees a chiropodist every 6-8 weeks . The nails do get thickened . Incidentally her Chiropodist said that you shouldn’t wear slippers all day as they don’t give your feet support . And that you should wear house shoes if you’re at home all day . She suggested slip on trainers just for home ,

I m still pretty flexible so cut my own but I have got one ( having a second toe longer than the rest I think it’s called a Greek toe ) that has become hard and thick so I have to do a bit more with that one than the others

I broke my right arm a year or so ago, and have lost some of the reach I would have had and now curse the contortions that don't always work in getting to the small left hand toe nail. Stupid little pointy daft thing that it isangry

I cut mine just after I have been in the bath, the warm water softens the nails which makes it a bit easier. I use heavy duty, long handled toenail scissors

I can still cut mine, but prefer my podiatrist to do it for me. She removes any hard skin, etc, moisturizes my feet and I don’t begrudge her £33 every 5 weeks.

Toe nails just don't face the right way for easy care, do they? Maybe give your feet a treat and one less job for you, and visit a Podiatrist. You'll get good advice on how to properly look after your feet and nails. Toe nails do thicken as one ages and can be the very devil (even if you soak your feet first) to trim properly.

And, of course, you don't just get nails cut correctly and easily, but feet checked, hard or rough skin attended to, nail edges machine smoothed, any damage treated, and an excellent foot massage with nourishing cream.

I've never been tempted to spend money on beauty treatments but every 5 weeks this is something that I so look forward to. Having comfortable feet - especially in the temperatures here in the summer - has become really important to me.

I can still cut my own toenails but I sit on the loo. It’s the perfect height for the correct focal length.

Podiatrist every 5-6 weeks.

I am losing flexibility and my toenails got thicker. Is this ageing ? How one bends down to cut their toe nails
