What is the best marine collagen supplement?

I have been looking for some time now, and I don't want bovine collagen, and am hoping for something not too expensive. Unfortunately, most of them seem to be very expensive. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

I don't know about this, I'm sorry and the only marine collagen product someone I know uses (and loves) is made by Elemis. I expect it will be pretty expensive as their products usually are.

I spoke to someone recently who thought marine collagen came from seaweed but it can't be as collagen is strictly animal-based.
As a vegetarian not wanting to use animal products in my skincare, please could I add to your collagen info request and ask if anyone knows about a "collagen similar" product that is vegetarian-friendly and still effective?

I hope someone more useful than me comes along shortly with a suggestion Peaseblossom.

Wondering why you don’t want bovine but happy to use collagen sourced from marine animals?

NotSpaghetti doesn’t use it (Elemis marine). it’s someone she knows.

You can get it from NZ green lipped mussels. There are tablets from Holland and Barrett as well which are reasonably priced.

Basgetti. I stopped eating red meat years ago, mainly because of the halal slaughter. A lot of it gets sold without us knowing how it was slaughtered. It should be banned, because it's very cruel. Many restaurants serve halal food. which is wrong. I rang a restaurant once to ask and they didn't even know whether it was halal or not. I wouldn't eat it now, even if I knew how it was produced.

I’ve literally just started taking this as it’s supposed to be good for my joints and also hoping it helps with my hair and nails. I’ve gone for the Boots capsules which are on a buy two get one free offer. They are a strong and have good reviews. Can’t say if they have helped yet but they are reasonably priced. The only thing I would say is the capsules are quite large so if you have any problems swallowing tablets I wouldn’t go for them.

Well I'd decided you were looking for skincare - sorry Peaseblossom - inspite of the clue being in the title!

Apologies!

My daughter and I tried the marine Collagen which contained, amongst other stuff that was suspect, tilapia fish. We were both ill with various symptoms after 5 days of taking supplement. By subscribing we were offered two appointments with natural health nutritionist who just told us to see our GP. Apparently, it was our fault for not reading the health warning on these expensive tablets. Please do your research on the ingredients. Like most of the food chain now, we must take care in what we eat! I recently saw a programme whereby some Asian paddy fields are so chemically treated, rice is a poisonous food.

Isla71 Oh no! How awful. I'm stumped now. Thanks for the info.

Are you allergic to any seafood?

Many people will eat fish etc but not meat from land animals, in fact over 3 million in the UK alone. That is a well-known fact.
