How much would you pay for a pillow?

I read an article this morning about pillows for 'side sleepers'. I sleep on my side and have a square edged pillow that I got from Costco (think it was about £30 for a pack of two) which I am please with. When I checked on the pillow the article was about it was priced at £108! 😮. What is the most you've spent?

Life's too short to be washing pillows.
Or spending a fortune on them.
Chuck and go buy another.
15 pound max.

Thirty odd years isn’t bad going for a pillow 😂

Interesting thread, treated myself to wool pillow last year and I still am not convinced. I feel that the mixed crumb latex could have been a better choice.

Do you all use pillow protectors? The densely woven zip up sort I mean. And wash them regularly?
When you think of the amount of sweat, facial skin particles, hair oil (natural- not products) ear wax and dribble that land on a pillow overnight, it’s a pretty disgusting thought!
If I was staying in an Air BnB I think I’d be very sceptical about anything other than pristine pillows.
I used to have to contact accommodation in advance to ensure our pillows were NOT down or feather as DH’s asthma would kick off big time. Have been known to take our own.
Using pillows for years?
Shudder

Always use those zip protectors.
My friend has the best of everything but has never used protectors on pillows or mattresses. All yellow & stained which is a crime in my opinion.

We have Groove pillows - they have really helped my neck - about £40, I think.

Gosh, I'm really surprised how much you are prepared to pay for a pillow. I must admit though I would pay for something that really helped my neck.

2020, last pillow for me was British goose down at £140. I protected it well and it is still as wonderful as when bought. I have four of these, bought over several years and they were a good investment. I won`t ever have to buy another pillow as I only use one at a time when laying down

Reason I bought several was in case they were not going to be produced any more, believe me in my lifetime I have gone through dozens of pillows and it took me a long time to find one that actually helped my sleep comfort

That pillow now costs almost £200, buying was better than money in the bank

It seems very wasteful, and false economy to me, to buy cheap pillows and throw them away frequently?
A good quality washable pillow will last for years.

Dunlopillo for me too.

I wait until they are reduced, which is generally 40% off but even then they cost about $110 Australian.

They are still selling them here in Australia, fingers crossed they continue!

A good pillow works wonders for my neck and back, I always take mine on holiday smile

MT62 Hi my Panda pillow feels quite firm, but slim, it’s difficult to explain but my head sinks in to it, it took a while to get used to it but I wouldn’t swap it now.
There’s a 30 day money back guarantee if you don’t get on with it.

Lot of pillow boasting on here.
I think I've splashed out spending £13 or 15 in Lidl or Aldi for a single pillow.
That's the most I've spent or would spend allowing for inflation.
Quite happy with them.
Got a lavender infused one last year and a eucalyptus one recently.
Given up trying to wash pillows. Not worth it. Just throw them in the bin and start again.

I used to buy fairly cheap ones but was persuaded by Which magazine to buy a Simba one for £60+. It’s ok but you can only wash the cover not the filling. It’s not really anymore comfortable than a cheap one so won’t be spending that much again.

I always used to use Dunlopillow pillows until they were taken over by Relyon which were never as comfortable. I’ve wasted a lot of money on uncomfortable pillow over the years , they’re a bit like new shoes, you never know that they’re going to be uncomfortable until it’s too late.

Yes I’ve found that to be the case. I had a dunlopillo bed, wanted to replace the mattress, but was told they had stopped making the mattresses.

TheSunRisesInTheEast Sun 05-Apr-26 20:55:43

A bit like mattresses, Bazza 🙄.

I have a Panda memory foam pillow, £40 it’s the most I’ve ever spent but I do like it. Here’s hoping it lasts a while.

Are panda pillows soft. I’ve tried a generic bamboo pillow, but it was like resting my head on a breeze block.

I usually buy a pack of 2 from supermarket, OH sweats a lot in bed and his pillows need changing often, so nothing expensive...

MaggsMcG Sun 05-Apr-26 16:02:48

There's one being pushed a lot lately (Aeyla) and I bought a similar one but I'm tempted to buy the £69 one because I really need something that will help me sleep. I'm very reluctant to spend any more money on Magnesium, Patches or gummies.

Good grief probably about a fiver they all feel the same to me

Dunlopillow latex pillows. Been using them over 50 years.

I was asked what I would like for a special birthday and I said a really lovely pillow, which is what I got. It cost £165 from John Lewis, pure goose down and made in the UK. I absolutely love it, it’s so luxurious and something I wouldn’t have bought for myself. I enjoy putting my head on it every night.

MT62 Sun 05-Apr-26 14:55:39

£65 half price dunlopillow.
I think rebranded Relyon.
Had one for thirty years. Changed the ticking several times & now starting to crumble.
I have to say my new one isn’t half as comfortable as my old pillow.

I have a 'neck' pillow called 'Jovial' which I bought from Amazon for £25. It has worked wonders for my stiff neck and shoulders.
It looks weird with two 'flaps' on the sides, but I can recommend it. I sleep on my back as I broke a vertebra some years ago.
