Dry Eyes

I use Eyeeze ( sp?) on repeat prescription, the blurriness doesn't last for long.

Yes I have dry eyes, it’s a nuisance as they water all the time (it looks like I am crying most of the time). Could be age or meds. I also have a couple of jelly like lumps, opticians tell me it’s caused by sun damage, I now make sure I wear a good pair of sunglasses.
For the dryness, I use Optase Dry eye spray, or a good brand of eye drops.
When I get up, I heat a couple of small cotton pads in hot water, place over my eyes- this releases the blocked up oil glands around the lashes.
I would use that gel at night if it’s burring your vision.
Hopefully you can ease them a little by my tips. Hope you get some relief

Lucky you get eyedrops off the GP- mine knocked of the eye drops 😩

My eyes stream once I m out in the air I bought some expensive drops from the optician but they made no difference at all so I now use nothing at all and I just drip

I have Sjogren's Syndrome, an autoimmune disease, and my opthamologist wrote to my GP, asking him to prescribe them.

I would prefer not to need them!

That’s the ones I use, didn’t know how to spell it ha.

My mother had this and had prescribed drops. My eyes sometimes feel dry however the optician said my eyes are only very slightly dry and I do not need anything as such for them. I have found however that when I have not been on a screen all day my eyes feel great.

My optometrist gave me IPL treatment for dry eyes. Results vary but I am cured of the problem.

I saw a specialist and he recommended I take a flaxseed supplement. I can't say it is a cure but it definitely helped. I've been taking them for about 6 years and he said they are better than fish oils.

My optometrist suggested flaxseed too theworriedwell. I use milled flaxseed on yoghurt and porridge. She also suggested eye pads which can be heated and worn at bedtime. This activates the Meibonium glands in the inner eyelid.

Oh yes I got the heated eyepad recommendation too or if not available a warm flannel. I think it all helps.

I’ve also found flaxseed and warm compresses helpful. Just wanted to add, for anyone who might be exploring more medical treatments for dry eyes (especially those linked to thyroid issues or autoimmune conditions), it’s worth being cautious with newer options. There's a medication called Tepezza that’s been used for thyroid eye disease, but some people have experienced unexpected side effects, particularly hearing issues. There’s more info on that here if anyone's curious or concerned.

Hopefully none of us are in that territory, but it’s always good to stay informed.

I have this too. The best eye treatment I've found is Xailin - even the things prescribed for me were not as effective.

Also worth asking the optician about having the glands in your eyelids expressed. I promise it's not nearly so bad as it sounds! It certainly made a huge positive difference to my symptoms.

I've just bought an eye mask. You heat in microwave for 15 to 20 seconds and wear it for 10 minutes.

Yes, I've had IPL treatment for very dry eyes from my optometrist. I go back for a top up treatment every year. I don't tend to need drops in between. It's been amazing for me, though I know not everyone responds as well.

I prefer using gel to drops as it is soothing and as Marydoll said, the eyes are only blurred for a short time. I agree, my eyes are dripping when I go out so it does my makeup a power of good. I buy gel from Amazon and it is usually what I fancy which is selling at a reasonable price.
