Assad called on to step down

I very much hope that President Assad heeds the calls from Obama, Cameron, Merkel, and Sarkozy and steps down very soon. The terrible amount of carnage he has already caused among his own citizens is shocking.

It's very strange that the events in Syria have been going on for so much longer than they were allowed to in Libya - why our government has had such a disproportionate reaction is quite bizarre in my opinion.
