Coffee shop won't serve people on mobile phones

This is one of my pet hates, I work in a PO and I refuse to serve anybody who is talking on their mobile, I walk away from the counter, find something to do somewhere else and I love to see the look on their faces as though it's me being rude!!!!

Hoo - blooming - ray! Where is this coffee shop? If it's near me it will become my local haunt.
I can't bear people on the phone at supermarket checkouts or counters either. It's soooooo rude to the retail assistant.

Well done to them I say. Somebody I know was recently up in arms that her GP had told her off for taking a call on her mobile in the middle of a consultation with her daughter (she'd asked for an emergency appointment as it was 'so serious') - he said it was totally inadmissible, and that she should leave the room. And I really can't blame him.

Slap a tax on them. I hate the b****y things.

I'm amazed at the number of people who think it's perfectly OK and even 'normal' to go about their everyday business while talking continuously on their mobile phones! You have to be particularly aware whilst driving, especially in towns, as they'll just stride into the road without looking, obviously miles away as they talk.

I feel embarrassed if my phone rings when I'm shopping, and will only answer if it might be urgent (which it never is!). I always tell the caller I'll ring them back - I refuse to become one of those women who can't even look the checkout person in the eye because I'm glued to my phone.

I hope others follow too. I thought of this news item when I was at the checkout today. The woman in front of me was talking on her phone while paying for her food. Very rude to the checkout lady! She'd nearly finished too. I'm sure it could have waited until she got outside.

I don't know why people are so surprised at mobile phone use during a transaction at a shop. I'm an internet shopper at a quality supermarket and the girls on the tills put up with this frequently. During the whole procedure the customer is on her mobile, not on an urgent call I hasten to add - just b/sing to a friend. On the otherhand at a few convenient shops near my son in Twickenham the shop owners there are always on their mobiles - hold out hand for money, hand back change without a word spoken to the customer. I think mobiles are great but are really mis-used. Classic case: on a train to London a year or so ago, we passengers were subjected to a young woman talking loudly and often on her phone. She made a phone transaction and gave her credit card number including the security code all within our hearing. When the train stopped in Woking a city gent walked up to her and handed her a slip of paper. He's written down all her credit card details - he told her that any of us could have mis-used her credit card. Her face, as they say, was a picture. I love the way the coffee shop in Norwich is rebelling against this constant rudeness - we all should.

I was astonished last week when, standing in the supermarket queue, I saw the woman in front go through the whole process of stashing her large number of purchases into bags, putting bags in trollery, getting purse out of handbag, card out of purse, tapping in her pin, all whilst talking avidly to someone on her mobile phone in an annoyingly loud voice.

She was middle-aged. I gave her a hostile stare but it didn't make any difference.

I don't think she would have been a Gnetter!

Can they also ban people who wander around texting and just blaze a trail along the pavement or across the concourse at Euston Station so that I have to take avoiding action if I am not to be mown down?

Yeah I agree with the comments posted, I think it's rude to carry on a mobile phone conversation when you are being served.

Good for them , I used to serve in the shop at work and more often than not people would come into the shop while still talking on their mobiles and point to the things they wanted !!! So rude
