That is how I read it..not allowed to use the uniform to promote non military agenda! The disrespect was because uniform was not being worn correctly..buttoned up etc!
If I have read it correctly the Captain on the Base said they had no problems with the feeding of babes, the objection would arise if they where promoting a cause that was not within the Military remit, I am open to correction if I have read it wrong.(I am now under the desk with my hard hat on )
Crazy, crazy! It is against military regs to have your uniform unbuttoned! instead of embracing the image to show the military in a positive and human light they have made themselves look very narrow minded!
It is this sort of thing than makes me realise I am so removed now from the Anglo- saxon way of looking at things. Breast feeding in public is considered quite normal here, it is the most natural thing in the world. That is what breasts are for and maybe that is what upsets most Americans. They see it differently......
It is an interesting juxtaposition though isn't it. Dontya love the leopardskin clad twins! I wonder if they would have been less outraged if he babies were smaller. I watched the last 1/2 hour of Prince Charles talking about the family home movies last night - strange to see the queen clad in maternity clothes. Looks like she probably fed her own judging by the size of the bosom, bless her. (I'm no great fan of the royals but it was rather sweet)
More disrespectful to the baby, I'd say . Seriously though, we think we're so advanced and yet a huge proportion of us get in a lather about seeing a baby eating. Talk about screwed up!!
It's pathetic!
If I was inclined feel pessimisstic about the human race, that's the kind of thing that would send me into a Trough of Despond.
