Good grief.

crimson Wed 05-Sep-12 00:00:43

Well, we're all equal, it's just that some are more equal than others confused....

Greatnan Wed 05-Sep-12 06:43:01

I would like to say it is unbelievable, but unfortunately it is not.

MiceElf Wed 05-Sep-12 06:48:37

I suppose the only good thing is that it will contribute to their demise at the next election....I hope

Butternut Wed 05-Sep-12 07:26:09

Astonishing own goal - maybe a few more might not go amiss!

Greatnan Wed 05-Sep-12 07:26:34

I think some of their biggest donors have jumped ship and Cameron has not done himself any favours by hanging on to Osborne. A Lab-Lib coalition, perhaps?

Ella46 Wed 05-Sep-12 07:59:34

I despair for the future of this country and our children. Who are we to vote for next time?

AlieOxon Wed 05-Sep-12 08:21:48

OMG.

goldengirl Wed 05-Sep-12 08:37:28

Oh come on! The media are having a field day here - as usual only giving one side and it's the one side that will gain a reaction. I personally don't know what she actually said or the reasons for the way she voted. So until I know more I will neither accept nor condemn.

AlieOxon Wed 05-Sep-12 09:40:07

You won't find anything on the gov. site - just a very sanitised bio.....
BBC just said 'culture minister' - not even 'equality'.

crimson Wed 05-Sep-12 10:23:09

Given that the issues involved were not likely to bring about the fall of the government at the time I can only assume she voted for what she believed sad.

The promotion of Jeremy Hunt to Health Minister seems equally bizarre. He's an enthusiastic supporter of homeopathy – a method of treatment that has not one shred of evidence of efficacy either practically or theoretically. He wants to halve the "window" for abortion from 24 weeks to 12. He's also a self-satisfied, smug-faced buffoon with his eye to the main chance – but that's not exactly relevant.

Ella46 Wed 05-Sep-12 15:47:21

absent I agree.I could cheerfully slap him!

Greatnan Wed 05-Sep-12 19:22:41

Give him a slap for me, please! And Anno!

Ella46 Wed 05-Sep-12 19:36:54

Consider it done!

whenim64 Wed 05-Sep-12 20:20:59

He needs more than a slap - maybe with a big fish, a la Monty Python grin

glitabo Wed 05-Sep-12 20:41:43

We could form an orderly queue and all have a go.

JH is my MP!!! shock he was walking about locally during torch relay.. my DH tried to talk to him about school sports fields but he got quickly herded away by JH minder!!

nanaej Thu 06-Sep-12 18:38:08

Just to say the link came to me via a friend of my daughter who works for a charity for children with disabilities

I know it's just one perspective goldengirl but its a perspective I think is closer to the truth than makes me comfortable. Would not surprise me to see equalities be more marginalised.

goldengirl Thu 06-Sep-12 20:21:48

Well, we shall see. I'm quite willing to be proved wrong - though I hope I'm not. As for JH, wasn't he involved with Rupert Murdoch et al?
