Come on Kate, it's only pair of titties.

No one minds really. smile

When they were "preparing" her for her role, including teaching her judo-in-self-defence, or whatever, did no one mention big bad men with long lens cameras? hmm

nanaej Fri 14-Sept-12 18:11:14

it is just that a bit if tittilation sells papers! grin

Anagram Fri 14-Sept-12 18:20:02

Apparently they are going to sue.

JO4 Fri 14-Sept-12 18:28:38

Mine are too Granny-a. sad (A bit ashamed of the thread title now blush hmm)

janeainsworth Fri 14-Sept-12 18:33:47

I feel sorry for Wills too. It must be stirring up awful memories of what his mother endured.

paradisemerton Fri 14-Sept-12 18:37:20

When will the younger royals learn to cover up? There is no such thing for them as a private beach, balcony, yacht or anything else. There are people who will stop at nothing to get compromising shots of them, and the only 100% guarantee of protection is to ensure that no opportunity is provided. Hopefully Kate will learn from this very obvious error.

merlotgran Fri 14-Sept-12 18:58:35

So are mine, jings but I wouldn't worry about the thread title. Supporting the Royals doesn't mean we can't have a sense of humour amongst ourselves. grin

Greatnan Fri 14-Sept-12 19:27:26

I am no expert in French law, but I believe there is no law of trespass in France.

absentgrana Fri 14-Sept-12 19:30:13

greatnan Never mind trespass. I think there are privacy laws in France

Greatnan Fri 14-Sept-12 20:34:50

Yes, very strong privacy laws. I believe they are pursuing the paper and the photographer through the courts.

crimson Fri 14-Sept-12 20:35:52

I would imagine she feels as if she's been violated in some way. Feel really sorry for her [although do agree it was a bit silly to go topless even in a private property].

Wheniwasyourage Fri 14-Sept-12 21:55:21

Well said, crimson. I do agree with all you say. Surely this will fade away before too long. Why is everyone so amazed that members of the Royal family have bits just like everyone else?

glassortwo Fri 14-Sept-12 22:45:15

I am not amazed they have bits but that they are not more careful where they flash them.

annodomini Fri 14-Sept-12 23:27:41

I know they have privacy laws i France but I heard a journalist on the radio saying that recently the profit from the sales of the magazine and from selling on the pictures to other publications far outweighs the fines levied for the offence.

Bags Sat 15-Sept-12 06:58:40

Being the cynic that I am (sometimes!), I don't think even hefty fines would make enough difference that it would never happen again. This my feeling, in agreement with crimson and glass, that if it doesn't happen again, it'll be because Kate is more careful of her privacy. Sad that she should have to be, but that's just a sad fact people like her have to accept.

kittylester Sat 15-Sept-12 07:43:02

Even when mine didn't droop to my knees, I wouldn't have liked them being on the front page of a magazine.

JO4 Sat 15-Sept-12 09:17:47

I think the Courts need to scare the proverbial out of these people. I don't think it's fair if they can never be free and easy like the rest of the human race.

dorsetpennt Sat 15-Sept-12 09:21:19

Poor Kate, what a reality check she has had with this. The papparazzi chap who took and sold these photos has made a small fortune with these pictures, that's why they do it and why they don't care who they hurt. There is no privacy with a long angled lens on your camera!

Lilygran Sat 15-Sept-12 09:21:21

Now an Italian mag has announced it will be publishing the pictures. I think they may find it's beyond control. I feel so sorry for them.

MiceElf Sat 15-Sept-12 09:51:18

The only effective sanction would be to close the publication. My daughter is the same age and I go cold thinking how she and I and all the family would feel if the same thing happened to her.

absentgrana Sat 15-Sept-12 09:54:35

MiceElf I don't think there's any possibility of closing the publication. If the pictures aren't already on the internet, they are sure to be soon. By deciding to sue, I think the Cambridges are only going to keep the matter in the public eye for a longer period.

Bags Sat 15-Sept-12 10:07:38

I agree, absent. I think it might have been better if they'd just moved on without comment. I also think they need to learn that they simply cannot "be ordinary" because they aren't, however much they'd like to be. It may be a horrible fact of life but it IS a fact of life for them that outside, anywhere, is not private. Yes, it should be in certain circumstances, but it isn't. I expect they'll remember now. (Not sure Harry will hmm).

crimson Sat 15-Sept-12 10:27:26

I know years ago European magazines used to publish photos of the Royal Family that publications here wouldn't dare put in print. 'Stern' springs to mind.

absentgrana Sat 15-Sept-12 13:33:05

Apparently Chi is going to devote 26 pages (that is not a typo) to the photographs!

Anagram Sat 15-Sept-12 13:36:06

Both "Chi" and the French magazine "Closer" belong to the Mondadori Group which is owned by former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi. No surprises there, then!

absentgrana Sat 15-Sept-12 13:41:03

Mondadori used to be a respectable publisher once upon a time.
