Another arrogant MP.

Andrew Mitchell, chief government whip, has had to apologise for losing his temper with a policeman who asked him to use the side gate at Downing Street to wheel out his bicycle. He is said to have called him a 'pleb'. If this is true (he has denied it) it shows how some of the cabinet regard the 'lower classes'.

I saw that Nana I still think he is disrespectful.

JO4 Mon 24-Sept-12 22:43:15

I wonder which gate David Cameron uses when he goes to work on his bike.

JO4 Mon 24-Sept-12 22:44:03

Not all police are plaster saints.

Some probably are plebs.

NfkDumpling Mon 24-Sept-12 22:44:48

Aah Ana I see. Personally I would be far, far more offended at the use of the F word prefixing it - allegedly.

Nanadogsbody Mon 24-Sept-12 22:45:06

There had to be something in it, because yes he's admitted that. No doubt a stroppy man. Probably arrogant too. Happily for us in this country we can trust all our police officers to tell the absolute truth at all times.

Where have you been JO4? Not seen you posting or have you been in other threads?

NfkDumpling Mon 24-Sept-12 22:48:20

[like] emoticon Nana

JO4 Mon 24-Sept-12 22:51:52

Been on holiday. smile

Ana Mon 24-Sept-12 22:53:04

You're always off on holiday! envy
Hope it was a good one! smile

JO4 Mon 24-Sept-12 22:54:59

grin I'm not!

Yes. Very good thank you.

Nanadogsbody Mon 24-Sept-12 23:08:18

Well I hate to admit it but I've missed your caustic and often crazy insightful and unusual comments!

annodomini Mon 24-Sept-12 23:09:23

I had noticed that something was missing... wink

The police log of the incident is in the Telegraph today.

whenim64 Tue 25-Sept-12 06:56:59

Well, I hope that settles it and the plebs will open the main gate for him from now on. (Of course, it won't be for his bike - he'll be emptying dustbins as soon as he gets the sack!) Idiot! grin

Lilygran Tue 25-Sept-12 10:05:01

He was warned that he could have been arrested. Why wasn't he?

Greatnan Tue 25-Sept-12 10:08:10

Kitty - I don't believe for one moment that Tessa Jowell and her husband were genuinely separated - they were seen frequently out together. Just one more sleazy MP.

JO4 Tue 25-Sept-12 10:13:00

Lillygran would you have had him arrested for the "fuckings" or the "plebs"? hmm

JO4 Tue 25-Sept-12 10:16:09

" but it is policy that we are not to allow cycles through the main vehicle entrance".

Why not?!!! shock

I'm a cyclist. I DEMAND EQUAL RIGHTS WITH CARS!!!!!

Greatnan Tue 25-Sept-12 10:21:58

Could it be that every time the main gates are opened they present a security risk, or just that it takes more time than opening a single gate. I can't see what Mitchell had against using the side gate anyway.
It has been established that simply swearing at the police is not a crime, although there are various other offences about using threatening behaviour or causing a disorder.
I don't believe these highly trained policeman would have been aggressive towards him - he is just a pompous, self-important twerp. It would be good if some of the public who witnessed the altercation were to come forward with an unbiased account.

annodomini Tue 25-Sept-12 10:29:52

I can't wait for this week's PMQs, though it's a pity that our press is so taken up with this affair that more important world news takes a back seat. Take today's Save the Children report on the effect on children of the conflict in Syria, for example.

glitabo Tue 25-Sept-12 10:31:47

I suggest that it is a safety issue for pedestrians and cyclists to use a separate gate from the cars.

JO4 Tue 25-Sept-12 10:33:45

No. It's unwarranted segregation. Posh-os separate from us plebs on bikes. hmm

JO4 Tue 25-Sept-12 10:36:48

If I was a Chief Whip I would definitely be pompous and self important.

JO4 Tue 25-Sept-12 10:37:19

In fact I would probably wear a uniform. On my bike.

whitewave Tue 25-Sept-12 11:15:33

What distinguishes a pleb from a posh? Is it schooling, attitude or wealth, or maybe all three. What does it feel like to be a posh? Do you have this overwhelming sense of importance and superiority, with the expectation that all plebs are there to labour for your wealth/personal needs etc.
Do all plebs see poshes as superior and natural born leaders?

Oh dear what a lot of nonsense it all is.
