Another arrogant MP.

Andrew Mitchell, chief government whip, has had to apologise for losing his temper with a policeman who asked him to use the side gate at Downing Street to wheel out his bicycle. He is said to have called him a 'pleb'. If this is true (he has denied it) it shows how some of the cabinet regard the 'lower classes'.

" but it is policy that we are not to allow cycles through the main vehicle entrance".

Why not?!!! shock

I'm a cyclist. I DEMAND EQUAL RIGHTS WITH CARS!!!!!

JO4 Tue 25-Sept-12 10:13:00

Lillygran would you have had him arrested for the "fuckings" or the "plebs"? hmm

Greatnan Tue 25-Sept-12 10:08:10

Kitty - I don't believe for one moment that Tessa Jowell and her husband were genuinely separated - they were seen frequently out together. Just one more sleazy MP.

Lilygran Tue 25-Sept-12 10:05:01

He was warned that he could have been arrested. Why wasn't he?

whenim64 Tue 25-Sept-12 06:56:59

Well, I hope that settles it and the plebs will open the main gate for him from now on. (Of course, it won't be for his bike - he'll be emptying dustbins as soon as he gets the sack!) Idiot! grin

The police log of the incident is in the Telegraph today.

I had noticed that something was missing... wink

Nanadogsbody Mon 24-Sept-12 23:08:18

Well I hate to admit it but I've missed your caustic and often crazy insightful and unusual comments!

JO4 Mon 24-Sept-12 22:54:59

grin I'm not!

Yes. Very good thank you.

Ana Mon 24-Sept-12 22:53:04

You're always off on holiday! envy
Hope it was a good one! smile

JO4 Mon 24-Sept-12 22:51:52

Been on holiday. smile

Nanadogsbody Mon 24-Sept-12 22:47:30

Where have you been JO4? Not seen you posting or have you been in other threads?

Nanadogsbody Mon 24-Sept-12 22:45:06

There had to be something in it, because yes he's admitted that. No doubt a stroppy man. Probably arrogant too. Happily for us in this country we can trust all our police officers to tell the absolute truth at all times.

NfkDumpling Mon 24-Sept-12 22:44:48

Aah Ana I see. Personally I would be far, far more offended at the use of the F word prefixing it - allegedly.

JO4 Mon 24-Sept-12 22:44:03

Not all police are plaster saints.

Some probably are plebs.

JO4 Mon 24-Sept-12 22:43:15

I wonder which gate David Cameron uses when he goes to work on his bike.

glitabo Mon 24-Sept-12 22:37:54

I saw that Nana I still think he is disrespectful.

Ana Mon 24-Sept-12 22:34:22

It's all right to say it about yourself - not so good to use it as a derogatory term to those you deem to be beneath you!

NfkDumpling Mon 24-Sept-12 22:31:45

We used the word pleb at our secondary modern school. Us lot wot didn't have posh parents were proud to be plebs. And didn't I hear Vince Cable at the Conference stand up and announce he's a pleb?

Nanadogsbody Mon 24-Sept-12 22:16:56

Not a female and only one police officer involved, according to 10 o'clock news. Funny how misinformation spreads. hmm

Grannybug Mon 24-Sept-12 19:32:52

Glitabo smile flowers

glitabo Mon 24-Sept-12 19:20:39

Well that is not surprising, I expect that Andrew Mitchell would take badly to being told what to do by a woman. Does he know that women have the vote now?

whitewave Mon 24-Sept-12 19:13:19

Apparently the police constable in question was female - good for her standing up to a bully

FlicketyB Mon 24-Sept-12 16:12:29

I can remember a lot of complaints about the arrogance and rudeness about members of other parties. Andrew Mitchell, like a lot of people who are successful in life is a bully. Gordon Brown was clearly another such.

Bullies like Mitchell and Brown do not necessarily target one individual for a campaign of bullying but they want and intend to have their own way at all times and their main way of doing this is by shouting and swearing so that people back off and give way rather than face all the aggro. At various times I encountered these people at work. Many of them were very charming, if your aims and theirs co-incided but even then had that air of hidden menace that suggested that you wouldnt want to cross them.
