Evil fathers

I feel absolute contempt as well.

It seems to happen so often.

deeply upsetting.

Really upsetting and my heart goes out to the mother and her family.

I often wonder how men get to this state of mind. There are reports that he is an ex- soldier who survived an IRA bomb attack. My heart goes out to his family too.

I think some men who do this are clinically depressed or have other mental health issues. It is though much more rare for a woman to do this but it does happen.
It is also possible that it is an act of extreme anger, attacking the mother in the worst way possible.

As these murders are usually premeditated it is more likely they are an act of revenge against the mother, the ultimate revenge. It's all about control. Woman who kill their children though often have entirely different motives.

Do these things happen more often now-a-days, or is it just that we hear of them via the media, etc? If it is happening more often, what sort of society are we now living in, where fathers feel it necessary to kill their children - not a natural thing for human beings to do surely. The sadness in two families must be soul destroying, and our hearts must go out to them.

obviously the coward killed himself to avoid facing what he had done . if these men want to get at their partners there must be ways . What did the children do to deserve to die? How could anyone look at the poor innocents and do what he hid ?Can you imagine how that poor woman is going to get through the rest of her life.

I know there is no understanding this horrendous event but it seems that this ex-soldier had a narrow escape in the IRA Hyde Park bombing in 1982. He was probably suffering from PTSD and surely was not in his right mind. Apparently police had been called to incidents at his wife's home. Was no-one aware of this man's state of mind?

It would seem that in some instances at least the father is a very controlling person. When there is a marital split, he has lost control over his wife but still believes that he owns his children and so uses them for the ultimate revenge in her.

It looks as if the father (or mother) wants to take the children with them OR make sure the surviving partner can't have them. I find it quite an "animal" response, like rodents eating their young in extreme fear because our children are what takes our genes on into the future. I am sure there is some deep rooted psychological explanation but all I can see is the incredible cruelty to the surviving parent and of course to the innocent children. I hardly dare think of what the poor children go through in mental anguish and fear being with a parent they loved and trusted. Where a parrent kills their child(ren) as a form of protection, that is more usually the mother (the case of the severely handicapped child and mother who were being tormented by local yobs) - however tragic, there is a sort of logic but not to this.

I read that he has other children too, with a former partner. What a terrible thing for them to have to cope with, as well.
