In the light on the Party conference, there is an Interesting Commentary Here on the current state of the Tory Party.

I'm not in a fit state to comment on it till I've got another cup of tea....

Never mind, Bags, it won't be for long.........will it?

Since parliamentary parties and those in constituencies are always formed from coalitions of interests, the question is whether the leader can keep them marching in the same direction, singing from the same hymn sheet, pursuing the same objectives and keeping the more flamboyant individuals on side. If he/she can't do that, the leader can always ally him/herself with the most effective and/or majority group or groups. Sound as though he thinks DC hasn't been able to do either.

Yes, the writer seems to think DC is a bit of a damp squib. Funny that.

I liked the bit about the party having "fewer intellectually mediocre patricians" now. The trouble is that the ones they have got are at the top!

It won't be funny if the right wing get control. We've got another two and a half years before the next General Election.

I was once returning officer for a student union election when 'none of the above' had a landslide. So the old lot stayed in.
