Phone hacking Mirror Group

Now there are phone hacking claims being made against the Daily Mirror and the People. Too late for Leveson!. Although I hope all those who gave evidence at Leveson will be treated exactly the same as any other editor or reporters who have been arrested awaiting justice, if found to be guilty?.

What I find so annoying, if found to be true, the sanctimonious hypocrisy of the Mirror and the People would be just as bad, if not worse, than the papers they were more than happy to malign, albeit rightly.

Is this another can of worms ready to pop?

Discussion on 'Today' suggests that if it does develop like the News of the World scandal, it would put paid to Trinity Mirror because they don't have the resources of News International.

Lilygran That would be a shame as there does need to be a tabloid counterbalance to the Sun.

I watched a fascinating programme about Life magazine in America, as I am very interested in photography. They were a huge force in the US, at one time being read by half the population.

It was interesting that its demise occurred after the start of celeb culture, when they moved from chronicling real people (local GPs, drug addicts, dancers, housewives - basically "middle America") to a papparazzi approach. It seems that this was the start of the unsavoury journalism that we now know and hate. How I wish it would cause the demise of these tacky tactics now.
