While I agree with everything Shirley Williams stands for, I see her more as a good - maybe great - political thinker, but as SS for Education she had opportunities for reform that she never took, for example, removing the charitable status from public schools, and abolishing grammar schools. As a practical politician she fell short in my opinion. However, from her seat in the Lords, she has been instrumental in attempting to bring amendments to the iniquitous Health Service 'reforms'.

. I don't think I've ever come across such a supposedly intelligent woman who does such stupid things. As for Edwina, she deserved all she got from the media; wouldn't do anything if there wasn't a photographer/reporter around. Nearly came to blows with her once; literally.
