I was going to add "don't bother if you hate royalty to the title But I wouldn't have got many takers.

(Why isn't she pregnant yet?!)

jO5 Fri 30-Nov-12 13:23:08

Well, I'm sure he visits his married kids, just the rest of us do.

absentgrana Fri 30-Nov-12 11:29:28

No jO5, I was answering annodomini and referring to the Prince of Wales.

jO5 Fri 30-Nov-12 11:08:38

If you mean Kate and William absent,They live in Wales! They rent a farmhouse. William works there. On Anglesey. grin

absentgrana Thu 29-Nov-12 13:10:38

Probably doesn't visit Wales that often either. And how often does the Queen visit Lancaster of which she is the Duke?

annodomini Thu 29-Nov-12 12:39:09

What about the Earl of Wessex - does Wessex exist nowadays? I bet the Duke of York rarely goes near York. Prince Charles is the Duke of Rothesay (as well as Cornwall). Does he go 'doon the watter' to Rothesay very frequently?

soop Thu 29-Nov-12 12:19:20

Kate is charming and pretty and chic. Nothing wrong with that. smile

It's an historical thing Granny23. Goes back to the days when the king actually gave them the places named.

absentgrana Thu 29-Nov-12 08:29:34

Granny23 But they could hardly call him the Duke of Corfu instead could they? (The Edinburgh that is.)

Bags Thu 29-Nov-12 06:14:02

Sel grin.

Granny23 Thu 29-Nov-12 00:03:30

I do not normally bother about or comment on the doings of the royals but was shocked to hear on the news that the Duke of Cambridge had once been there for two days and the Duchess of Cambridge had never visited before. What a cheek! Why are they entitled to this title? It is as insulting to Cambridge residents as the so called Duke of Edinburgh is to Edinburghers.

annodomini Wed 28-Nov-12 23:39:57

I'm sure she has had extensions put in her hair - it seems to have far more body than it used to have. That's why it looks like Cheryl Cole's.

Sel Wed 28-Nov-12 22:42:32

Well yes. I could describe my daughters the same way.

numberplease Wed 28-Nov-12 22:37:44

I think she`s a beautiful girl, and her hair is lovely, as is her dress sense.

Sel Wed 28-Nov-12 21:30:45

We are discussing her hairstyle and dress and fucundity? Crikey. I always get upset when people assume we 'need' a royal family. As if we would need to elect a President otherwise! The Royal family are a historic relic and fodder for the tabloid press. Great for opening things, heading organisations and charities. I do love the continuity the Queen has brought to my life, she's unique, I think in that. But, the idea that this continues? I saw the pictures on the News of the DOC being screamed at..as a celebrity. Much the same as any celebrity. I actually thought it was quite sad and the fact that someone defined The Royals as The Firm was never more apposite.

POGS Wed 28-Nov-12 21:03:50

I think she has a winning way with her. What a lovely smile.

As for the so called change of hair style and the fringe I don't see much of a difference. I think her hair is lovely and suits her very well.

Whether you like her or not she is an asset for the country and as we are no longer the respected country we once were, we need to be able to pull all the strings we can to survive our slow demise. Don't underestimate the value of the Queen and Wills and Kate when it comes to the perception of Britain on the world stage.

jO5 Wed 28-Nov-12 20:39:16

shock

I hadn't thought of that. Flip me!

Ana Wed 28-Nov-12 20:37:25

No she's not! It was fine as it was! It might harm her foetus follicles! confused

jO5 Wed 28-Nov-12 20:35:22

colour!

jO5 Wed 28-Nov-12 20:35:11

She's allowed to colout it Ana! hmm grin

jO5 Wed 28-Nov-12 20:34:38

Or - just younger generation rather than older?

Just saying. smile

Ana Wed 28-Nov-12 19:53:02

I agree - and I'm sure it's a shade lighter than it was.

merlotgran Wed 28-Nov-12 19:49:10

I think she is a very attractive young woman but agree about the hair. I don't think it's a very flattering look. More Cheryl Cole than elegant duchess.

FlicketyB Wed 28-Nov-12 19:26:19

I am not anti-royalty but personally I do not like the oversize hair the Duchess of Cambridge sports. I think she does a very difficult job well. I think if many of her critics had to lead the endless public life she leads for 1 day let alone a fortnight, constantly turning up looking her best and smiling for visit after visit and having to politely socialise with boring politicians and leaders of all nations knowing if she makes one teeny weeny error she will be excoriated by national media for the rest of her life for one trivial error, they would run away scraming with horror.

when I was a small child and reading fairy tales I expressed a desire to be a princess. My mother's immediate response was that she could imagine nothing worse, living your whole life in public. She was right.

annodomini Wed 28-Nov-12 17:59:15

That's an elegant coat she was wearing in Cambridge.

Ariadne Wed 28-Nov-12 17:36:13

Pretty, if rather old fashioned young woman.

I note that "The Telegraph" cannot spell "gorilla". Tee hee. Let's tell Gove.
