I see according to todays Yorkshire Post we already have one of our
new Police Commissioners admitting he does not consider he is suitable
for the job - in view of the way the election was organised - How many
more do we think ?

In what way not suitable ?

vampirequeen Mon 10-Dec-12 12:02:58

I reckon it will be most of them. How many have experience of how the police force works?

harvatt Mon 10-Dec-12 12:10:49

To bluebell , it did not say why .

I didn't catch the area he is responsible for, but one of the new commissioners was on radio the other day, explaining that he had taken over from 17 people and a staff of five so his first job would be to recruit staff. The interviewer pointed out that the 17 people weren't paid large salaries - or any salary - but he was unworried.

Ours has appointed a deputy. (in the Thames Valley) . Another councillor from the same party. Lining up his successor already presumably.

Ours has already put backs up around here...he is threatening to appoint the person who conducted his campaign to be his (highly paid) deputy!!!!!

So it's jobs for the boys then - what a surprise!

Yes , it's showing all the signs of starting to fall apart already .
You know our methods of Educaton today , in my opinion are
simply not good enough from so many aspects . We are sadly
lacking in good old fashioned 'Common Sense ' these days.
In many ways the Old Style Grammr Schools with the School
Leaving Certificate and Matriculation Level took some beating,
it gave a good solid grounding to suit most walks of life .

Ours has already employed his mate as his deputy. So police commissioner gets £75K and his deputy gets £45K plus they need offices, staff etc. Can someone explain to me how this is cost effective?

To vampirequeen, I agree with you entirely , this job is being thrown
into mockery already, the hard facts about this job seem to have been
left out of the manifestoes . One of the candidates in my area was
stating that she would reduce the £75,000 salary she would receive by
one third . She did not get in but where does that statement fit in with
the extra involved in taking on board a Deputy and in some areas extra
staff . The original Salary of £75000 for the job is thrown totally out of
context when taking in the exta salaries involved .
