I read the Daily Mail this morning whilst having coffee in Waitrose.

I'm not familiar with this paper (having been a Guardian reader for the last 35 years) but was interested to have a look in view of comments about it on GN.

Good points:

Not pretentious
Nice and gossipy
Humorous sometimes.

It did have two articles about the negative effects of immigration. One headline was that farm workers wages had dropped 6.6% due to immigration. Another was that house prices would rise by a certain % if immigrationn continued at present rate.

I suppose it's the the Mail's attitude to immigration which upsets some people.

If what the Mail says is true then I have no objection to them saying it.

There are an awful lot of people who would like house prices to rise a bit. grin

Other than those in negative equity, planning to downsize, or selling an empty house as part of a deceased's estate, house price rises never really help anyone. You still have to have somewhere to live. What would be better is for house to sell at all!
