Without wanting to reactivate anti-royalist sentiments and any reaction to that - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-20757376.This is a woman who has selflessly dedicated herself to this country for 60 years, no retirement possible. And her loyal ministers can think of no better reward than to invite her to sit through a Cabinet Meeting.

Anne is far and away the most hard working Royal, and she's produced two super, well balanced children. She's very high up in my estimation, is Anne. Would love to see her as Queen. Bet she wouldn't want to do it, though.

JessM Wed 19-Dec-12 15:09:12

Do you think if the queen could choose to hand over to Anne she would retire?

gillybob Wed 19-Dec-12 14:52:22

A bit more smelly though Ana Dont you think?

Having said that I haven't smelled Tim nice but Dimm ! wink

I am really not used to all these "F" words !

Ana Wed 19-Dec-12 14:29:46

You're right there, Riverwalk! A dead kipper would probably be more exciting...hmm

Riverwalk Wed 19-Dec-12 13:45:34

Whatsisname might be more exciting than the Commander!

gillybob Wed 19-Dec-12 13:09:08

Ooops no its Lawrence.

Bags Wed 19-Dec-12 11:20:38

Lovely in a palace, certainly. They'd look out of place in my house.

Ana Wed 19-Dec-12 10:29:20

I've just had a look at them. They're quite nice, actually - 3d effect.

Bags Wed 19-Dec-12 09:55:17

Do you think those placemats will ever be used?

Bags Wed 19-Dec-12 09:53:42

She looks bored. Tired to death with the lot of them. wink

jO5 Wed 19-Dec-12 09:20:22

jO5 Wed 19-Dec-12 09:18:45

Lilygran Wed 19-Dec-12 09:10:31

They do look rather exceptional for them as is interested and for gillybob and Bags www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/david-cameron/9752199/Queen-receives-60-placemats-after-David-Cameron-invited-her-to-Cabinet.html

Bags Wed 19-Dec-12 08:55:12

Who cares anyway?

Bags Wed 19-Dec-12 08:25:35

Does Anne still have a husband? Sorry, lost track.

Bags Wed 19-Dec-12 08:25:10

gillybob, grin

JessM Wed 19-Dec-12 07:20:17

Labour front bench has 1/3 women which is double to proportion on the coalition front bench. This reflects the different proportions of men and women in Labour and Conservative - one in three compared to one in six.

gillybob Tue 18-Dec-12 23:32:27

Well that's all her maj's Christmas presents sorted anyway !
1 for Phillip
1 for Charles
1 for Camilla
1 for William
3 for Catherine ( hmmm never know)
1 for Harry
1 for Anne
1 for corgi 1
1 for corgi 2
1 for corgi 3
1 for Anne's husband. ( what's his name again, Tim something or other )
Oh and those middletons ???? That's another 3.

grin to myself anyway .

crimson Tue 18-Dec-12 22:46:02

They did say it was suggested by the Palace confused. It looked awful.

merlotgran Tue 18-Dec-12 22:33:24

I bet the Queen was thrilled with the present they gave her. Sixty table mats!! hmm

POGS Tue 18-Dec-12 21:27:32

Isn't she only allowed gifts of x amount of money?

The mats were not given from the public purse and wasn't a sum of money also given to the Silver Jubilee Charity?

Had it been the public purse and more money spent it would not suit either. Can't win sometimes.

Ana Tue 18-Dec-12 18:47:32

It does trip off the fingers easily, doesn't it! wink
