Also, Bernard Hogan-Howe, the new commissioner of police for London .... why do you get a knighthood at the beginning of your tenure? Sounds like the politicians want him to toe the line - knighthood now, followed by a guaranteed seat in the House of Lords. It stinks.

And the recent head of the Financial Services Authority gets a knighthood, which should look good on the letterheads in his new 3 million a year job with Barclays! That also stinks.

As a staunch republican I am against all honours - long live Danny Boyle. But of all the iniquities of the system and today's list, Hector Sans has to be the biggest joke ( if only it were funny) and I deplore the jobs related honours such as the Met Commissioner and the top civil servants. I better shut up now before I am shot down again!!

I can understand why the Olympic athletes have been honoured but why an honour for Stella McCartney and Cherie Blair? Stella McCartney is an untalented designer and Cherie Blair has never done anything unless she could see some advantage for herself.
