Sorry, perhaps I didn't make that clear, I mean that I don't think he gives a flying about ageism issues generally, only when he thinks he can use it to his advantage. (as I think is mentioned, albeit subtly, in the article referred to in my O.P.)

Anne58 Sun 13-Jan-13 20:53:32

matson I really don't think his dismissal fron C4 racing is anything to do with ageism!

I also feel that he will play the "ageism" card because he thinks it might draw attention and support.

matson Sun 13-Jan-13 20:15:45

obnoxious man, but i think he may have a valid point about ageism .

Anne58 Sun 13-Jan-13 17:23:41

There are some that think he was quite a surprise "turn" on some of the celeb shows he took part in (I believe he also did the Wife Swap thing?) as apparently he can be quite erudite and present a good argument, but as I just cannot bear to watch him, I will have to rely on others opinion of those programmes.

Apropos of nothing, there is a lady who works in our local Waitrose who looks as if she could have been his twin sister separated at birth, poor soul. Sans the sideburns, fortunately). Mr P has been known to observe that you never see the two of them together. confused

I don't know of anyone in the racing world that supports him in what he's doing; quite what he hopes to achieve is beyond me. Although I do find it annoying that Clare [who I've always had a lot of time for] is hardly going to be seen on Ch4 Racing other than on high days and holidays.

Nonu Sun 13-Jan-13 17:08:39

I suppose the papers are full of him as he is bringing an action Channel 4.

He does say he will donate some of it if he wins .!!!!!!!

I must defend him about the 'female' thing. Tanya used to just read out the emails and she was called the email female; that got shortened to female and it didn't bother her [I think she uses it as a nom de plume now]. But I can't defend him in any other way. When the kids were young and used to come racing with me they used to hide from him as he was so scary.

Can't stand the man either. He was really abnoxious on Celebrity Big Brother a year or two back. He is so sexist, and calls his wife 'The Booby' . A documentary showed him lounging on his bed all day in his underpants (yuk!) barking orders whilst picking his nose and eating his findings!
I do not follow racing on TV, but I he would have put me off.

Anne58 Sun 13-Jan-13 16:35:15

Yes, he would say "The female on the exchanges" I often wished she would say "And now back to the knob head with the glasses and common looking bling"

Thank God we will never have to see him co-present with Claire Balding!

Although on second thoughts, I would love to see that in some ways...............She would make bloody mincemeat of him!

BAnanas Sun 13-Jan-13 16:34:56

I take the last word back, I'm being unfair to pigs!

BAnanas Sun 13-Jan-13 16:33:40

Revolting, sexist pig!

Nonu Sun 13-Jan-13 16:31:50

Not very keen on him calling Tania "female"

Ladies, I love you!

Links to the other pieces mentioned would be appreciated, if you can.

I thought the piece in Fridays DT was wonderful! (Although as I said I only read it in print.) I have saved it for a fellow Racing Club member who is currently on his way back from Australia and has always ribbed me about my loathing for that specimen.

Grannyknot Sun 13-Jan-13 16:21:32

All that booze and cigar breath - yuk! I don't know much about him, but the bit I do know is not very appealing. I read a comment somewhere that a complaint about prejudice, coming from him, is laughable.

Grannyeggs Sun 13-Jan-13 16:19:51

He's awful, rude loud mouthed and obnoxious, but the papers are full of him, I wish they would just ignore him, he might go away.

Ella46 Sun 13-Jan-13 15:24:44

He's a horrible creepy (Jimmy Saville type) slob.
I'm not implying he's a sex pest, he just reminds me of JS.

glammanana Sun 13-Jan-13 15:23:23

mrshat he must be doing the rounds with the papers as he had big interview in MoS to-day aswell, maybe he is short of a few £s and getting it in whilst he can ?

mrshat Sun 13-Jan-13 15:20:42

I agree - interview in Sunday Times today, enough to make one very angry

glammanana Sun 13-Jan-13 15:17:55

I cannot bear to even look at the man,I would not be able to put into words what he reminds me of as it is not polite, his appearance on TV would be the time to press the off button.
So he is an expert on racing so what who care's give me Clare any day at least she looks the part.

Ana Sun 13-Jan-13 15:09:29

I'm not a racing fan, but I can't stand him either! What a pompous, sexist bore he is...

Anne58 Sun 13-Jan-13 15:06:54

Perhaps not of much interest to many, but I know there are one or two racing fans here!

I read this article in print on Friday, and alternated between laughing and cheering!

Obnoxious oik, but that's only my opinion.
