The power of the internet! It's good to see that people who have taken the time to sign the petition have collectively influenced this proposal.

A result for this petition - The EMA has decided to change its data sharing policy as a result of all the publicity. Announced yesterday.

Signed as well. My husband takes what I consider to be a lethal cocktail of drugs for his arthritis and is being urged to take some new ones.....I would like to read all trials relevant to any drugs he is prescribed. Thanks as usual Jess M.

Bump. Read this if you would like to be sure the drugs you are taking do what it says on the box.

JessM thanks for this; I hadn't given much consideration to the subject before. I read the article (thanks for the link - it does help) and a little more around the subject. I have signed the petition.

Last year Ben Goldacre wrote a book called Bad Pharma in which he pointed out the extent to which clinical trial results are not made public.
The assumption is that these results contain information that pharmaceutical companies do not want us to know about. e.g. drugs don't work very well or have side effects.
Ben and others are calling for support to make the whole process much more open and transparent so that doctors have full information when prescribing.
Also - people who volunteer to take part in clinical trials should reasonably expect that the results will be published.
