Says in the article that it was probably made of iron. So the Russians probably put it up there in the first place.

I wonder what the difference is between a meteorite and a meteoroid. And whether any more of the junk up there will fall down. And then there's asteroids. What are they?

Not quite the same but DS filmed asteroid 2012DA14 tonight as it passed over England. Two in 24 hours, wonder why they didn't see the first one coming.

Wasn't it amazing. I watched the footage on the BBC News at One. They were so lucky it didn't come down over the town itself or over a heavily populated area.
