I'm tired of it too celeb all that stuff just muddies the waters and takes away from the real issues.

I don't care how many women he slept with, I think he was put on the spot by some interviewer, I don't think it's the sort of question anyone should ask. It's really irrelevant and it was of course before he was married. This to me that's the least contentious thing about him, I find the fact that he couldn't be bothered to know what the weekly pension was far worse. He just comes across as a career politician, completely out of touch with everyday people and for all his rhetoric about a fairer and more equal society, he is unable to do the right thing. This latest piece of news has demonstrated, along with his mate Chris Huhne, a sheer lack of integrity. Clearly as far as he is concerned the old boy network still prevails.

Agree on both points celeb smile

Have to agree far too much information! Who really cares how many women nick Clegg has slept with!

Gets wearing this scandal being dug up on continual basis.

Yuk! That's just as bad as Cherie Blair and her "four-times-a-night Tony". I wonder what the public would think if a female MP volunteered that she had "slept" with 30 men. hmm

Why did Clegg announce he'd slept with 30 women? I mean it's not the sort of question you hear Andrew Marr or Jeremy Paxman asking grin

Anno

The conspiracy theories will surface, by all who have a political affinity.

Labour will be blamed, Tories will be blamed. My favourite conspiracy theory was Cris Huhne has very strong friendships in Eastleigh and they are to blame.

Sometimes it just happens, who knows. We might find out as Clegg has been the headline story for two days and he will be doing his damndest to find out where it all started this time.

I am not an advocate for Clegg - and certainly not Chris Rennard - but isn't it interesting that these allegations have surfaced the week before a very high profile by-election?

I don't mind Nick Clegg choosing to send his child to a private school - every parent has to do what they feel to be right for their child. But I do agree that he is a lightweight of the first order. I abhor his economy with the truth over Rennard - it seems that all politicians become corrupt to some degree once they are in the system. How very sad.

I also find it hard to justify his announcement that he has slept with 30 women - how very embarrassing for his poor children.

Nick Clegg is a walking, talking embodiment of everything I hate about today's career politicians. He's such a lightweight couldn't even be bothered to find out what the weekly pension was, when asked a few years back, said he thought it was about £30 a week. Add that to all his rhetoric about wanting a fairer more equal society and is now possibly preparing the groundwork in sending his eldest son to a posh private London school like the one he went to and trying to justify that by saying it's what Miriam wants. I'm really not surprised by this latest debacle, he's not called Calamity Clegg for nothing!

vampirequeen Mon 25-Feb-13 09:34:23

Clegg has been caught being economical with the truth. This will damage his party far more than what Rennard has or hasn't done.

Barrow Mon 25-Feb-13 07:33:33

Rennard was helping them win seats and in my opinion thats all any political party is concerned with.

I think more damage has been done by Nick Clegg first saying he didn't know anything about it and now saying he knew about non specific claims - contradicting statements like that just scream cover up

Ana Sun 24-Feb-13 22:32:34

Yes, the fact that he denied knowing about the allegations until recently has been disproved - what a prat! hmm

POGS Sun 24-Feb-13 22:20:33

I am not interested in whether or not Lord Rennard is guilty of the 'allegations' being made against him. He is entitled to have his day in court, if and when any charges are brought against him.

However, was Nick Clegg correct in stating he knew nothing of any 'allegations' made against Rennard. It appears that Nick Clegg may infact have known for a while. Was he not better keeping stum and simply saying his party will be taking the 'allegations' seriously and looking into the matter. Now he is in the frame, possibly more than Rennard.
