Ariadne Wed 27-Feb-13 17:06:18

More to the point, Ivanhoe should be compelled to write his posts in iambic pentameters.

He's sulking 'cos he met his match, his arguments weren't up to scratch.

BAnanas Wed 27-Feb-13 12:37:06

......where women glow and men plunder...... or could be chunder if he gets on his soapbox and goes on and on like only Ivanhoe can. Sorry gracesmum you started it, I feel every post about Ivanhoe from this moment on should be in verse form!

gracesmum Wed 27-Feb-13 12:09:13

Maybe he has moved down under?

Ariadne Wed 27-Feb-13 09:04:45

Shall we not tempt providence? Please? smile

Good heavens. I never knew that there was an Ivanhoe television series. My parents bought their television in 1953, before the advent of ITV, and kept it for many years so I missed most of the programmes popular with my childhood contemporaries although for some reason I was familiar with Robin Hood. Thanks for the link merlotgran – it looks gruesome and I don't think I missed much.

For the record, Ivanhoe was last spotted fulminating at length about the increased cost of care for the elderly in Australia.

Ivanhoe, Ivanhoe,
Where d'ya go?
You were an amazing leftie one man show
There's a great big void where you once used to post
Ivanhoe, Ivanhoe, I hope you aren't toast
Once you were here posting daily
About the right wing press especially the MAILY
Now your soapbox has been standing forlorn and empty
It's sad cos often the responses were plenty
On and on about the government you droned
Even the GN Guardian readers groaned
The root of all evil led back to Margaret Thatcher
For sheer heartlessness no one could match her
Your rambling thoughts are sorely missed
Although better to read them slightly pissed
Maybe you found us grannies too boring
So you're tucked up in bed and happily snoring

gracesmum Tue 26-Feb-13 21:13:43

Robin Hood (with teensy variations)grin

merlotgran Tue 26-Feb-13 21:11:20

Are we singing this to the tune of Robin Hood?

Can't remember the Ivanhoe tune.

gracesmum Tue 26-Feb-13 21:07:51

Ivanhoe, Ivanhoe
Must be down in Hants
Ivanhoe, bet he thinks
Nick Clegg's man is "pants"
Writes his posts on tax
And newspaper hacks
Ivanhoe, Ivanhoe, Ivanhoe
He likes to have his say, on the topics of the day
His undisputed strength is to keep right on at length
We wouldn't call him beastly
But he'll give them heck in Eastleigh
Ivanhoe.
