Africa Rising

What an engaging article. How good it is to read such a hopeful piece on Africa.
To my mind, the increasing availability of new computerised technologies opens up world views for many, and in many ways. Burgeoning democracies and profitable trading with China are also clearly making a big difference.

This article that B linked to explores and explains how Africa is developing. I am sure much of the continent will become a valuable force for the future, not least the emancipation of African women.

I tried to post this from my Kindle but what the autorecognition thingy was doing with 'Mamphela Ramphele' was beyond belief! Eventually it was insistent that I was trying to type "Mandela" -at least it got to South Africa.

Anyway: Mamphela Ramphele was the 'common-law wife' of Black Consciousness leader Steve Biko who was murdered by the police in the early 1980s, she is an amazing woman. Whether the political party she is launching to challenge the ruling ANC will succeed remains to be seen.
