Yes it is shocking that the photos were published. It is obviously meant to make the readers rise up with howls of protest at her being given a cushy ride.

However, I am glad that she is not being punished unduly.

I don't think photographs of any prisoners while they are in prison should be taken (except for security purposes) or published – even the Ian Huntleys and Yorkshire Rippers of this world. I haven't seen them but I think it's all wrong, pandering to the public's worst instincts.

They pixelated out the faces of the other prisoners in the photos - What hypocrisy. I'm not surprised the DM published but was surprised at the DT - I thought they had a bit more sense. Did you read the letter her daughters wrote to the PCC? It was really good but the PCC as we well know are worse than useless

Nonu, I question whether the judge sentenced VP to have her photo splashed across the press.

Yes Nonu - I was one of those who had no sympathy at all for her or CH and think it is right she had received a prison sentence. But being in prison doesn't mean she loses all her rights - she has a right to be safe and have whatever privacy she is due under the law protected - that's what makes a society civilised. Are you saying that she and any other prisoner can be treated as anyone sees fit without due process? That rags like the DM and now the DT ( owned by tax avoiders) can do what they want ?

She deserves her prison sentence obviously, her time in prison will be and must be absolutely dreadful. I couldn't imagine anything worse. As bluebell says she does at least have some right to privacy as do the other prisoners. BTW who took the photos? Was it on an illegal mobile phone or did a prisoner officer take it and then sold it on? What people will do for money.

Does not matter who took it an editor agreed to print it! As an unashamed Grauniad reader I have not seen the pictures but am not surprised to see it it DM/DT that have published so far..others of course may follow.

Nonu if you had a relative in prison would you want their shame compounded by photos of them in prison, published in the press ? You do sound as if you want 'your pond of flesh'!

Oops! a pond of flesh would be disgusting! But when the weather warms up and the frogs get going you do sometimes see this phenomenon!

Having first hand experience of the devastation caused by the immoral antics of the Daily Mail and the Telegraph my sympathies are wholly with Vicky Pryce's daughters. The Leveson Report has turned out to be a damp squib with no teeth and a huge price tag. The majority of the press will get away with whatever they can with no regard for the truth whatsoever.
(In fairness I suppose I should point out that the Telegraph journalist responsible for printing a pack of nonsense did actually telephone to apologise AFTER his front page story had inflicted tremendous damage, but if he'd checked the facts before rushing into print and regurgitating stuff from the red-tops there would have been no need.)
