I think it speaks volumes that after the last school shooting there was a quote from someone representing the NRA that the only way to stop a bad man with a gun was a good man with a gun - that sent shivers down my spine.

There is news this morning of a policeman being shot in Boston (MIT campus). I have no idea whether it is related to the bombing of the marathon or a completely separate incident.

My husband has always been a gun freak and so is my son in law (who is American to boot) but even they are rather taken aback by some of the lunacy going on in America.

I'm not at all sure that many people need any sorts of guns but I truly don't believe a civilian needs an assault weapon.

Just been told that the Obama's attempt to stop the use of certain guns [the first step to an outright ban one day, perhaps] has been voted down by the the Republicans. If this is true [haven't seen tonights news] I'm apalled.
