I have a vague idea this was mentioned by someone else a few weeks ago. I am totally against it.

Without laying myself open to any Sally Bercow type problems....it also makes me worry about the moral compasses of certain folks in the legal world.

And why the heck does this barrister think 13 is an appropriate age of consent? Grrrr, doesn't it make the blood boil!

He must be joking. Presumably the barrister of the member of a group currently in court accused of abusing a one year old will claim if the age consent was reduced to one his client wold not be in court.

AS you say, sunseeker the law is there to protect the victim not the perpetrator.

That seems utterly unbelievable sunseeker God forbid. I'd raise it I'm afraid if there was more than a three year discrepancy in the ages of the couple.

I have just heard on the radio that the Barrister representing Stuart Hall is calling for the age of consent to be lowered to 13. He said that if that had been the age of consent his client would not have been in trouble!!

Am I missing something here? Who is the law to protect, the perpetrator or the victim?
