Actually not in the news much if at all

I read a book called' Where God only goes to weep' about ten years ago. It's by Siba Shakib(hope ive got the name right) I think there is no hope for Afghanistan and less than that for the women. I hope you've signed up for mavala again. Perhaps education will creep through by the edges.

Did any one see the report yesterday about the Afghan woman who was imprisoned for adultery after being raped. She had a baby as a result of the rape and has now had to marry her rapist as her family don't want to know her. We are so cocooned in the west while appalling things are happening to women all round the world. Presumably when we pull out of Afghanistan the Taliban will move straight back and things will be worse than ever.

We. need. to. arm. the. rebels.

And sod bloody Russia.

Doesn't it make you feel so helpless? I can't imagine what they are going through over there, whilst world leaders hum and hah over which group of rebels should be armed or not.

I can't help comparing these women to the ones I have seen here the last 3 days strutting around our local railway station on their way to Ascot dressed up to the nines and safe and protected. To realise how lucky we are is not enough. What can we do? and

Me too, butty. Angry and to some extent despairing

I cried when I read this.
I've read other articles which have addressed this issue (one in The New Statesman if I remember correctly), but none have been as rigorous in presenting such a comprehensive and informed view of the dreadful exploitation of young Syrian girls and women refugees, as this link. It is deeply saddening and shocking.
It is beyond reason, and makes me very angry.
