I bet there were some disappointed people in the media who would have liked to film him plunging to his death - more dramatic than sitting still while the vibrations stopped.

That photograph makes me think that Health and Safety probably is a good thing smile

Broke out in a cold sweat watching this it had the same effect on me as that very famous, I think 1930s photograph, of the workmen in New York umpteen floors up sitting on a plank nonchalantly eating their lunch and dangling their legs over the city below them. Anything like that makes me feel queasy.

I recorded it and watched next morning. I managed to get half way through, by which time my palms were pouring with sweat , and then I had to fast forward to the end to see if he made it. I thought it was an amazing thing to do and just what you would expect from a descendant of The Flying Wallendas. Normally I hate heights - even filmed heights - but looking down into the depths of the Grand Canyon was SO high it just didn't seem real.

It's ok Greatnan, I think I saw a man in a rowing boat just under the wire. grin

I don't think I approve of people risking their lives in this way - if he fell somebody would have to retrieve his body.

I'd have to wear a blindfold! No, forget that, I feel queasy just thinking about it. grin

On the subject of vertigo I just spotted this report of Nik Wallenda who has walked across the Grand Canyon on a tightrope without any safety harness. It is said he muttered prayers to Jesus all the way - I'll say!!

"Daredevil Nik Wallenda has successfully completed a high-wire walk across the Grand Canyon without a safety harness.
The Florida aerialist performed the quarter-mile crossing on a two-inch thick steel cable, 1,500ft above the Little Colorado River Gorge in Arizona.
The 34-year-old took around 22 minutes to finish the feat, kneeling twice to "get the rhythm out of the rope" and murmuring prayers to Jesus almost constantly along the way.
He stepped slowly and steadily most of the way, but jogged and hopped the last few steps."
