I just listened to part of her speech on Radio 4, as I was driving home. It moved me to tears, it was so inspirational. What a remarkable girl, and just 16!

She is amazing. Where does she get her courage? She has a wonderful future ahead of her. She will make a difference to the world.

Malala was incredible, she was so confident and at 16. I dont think thats the last we will be seeing of Malala.

I agree,*glass*. She's a strong young woman and a force to be reckoned with.

I've just watched Malala's complete speech to the UN on Youtube. (ALJazerraEnglish). What a brave, good, strong and compassionate young woman she is.
I was also moved to tears, when.

I watched it too, Bags. It reminds me of history-making speeches that get played again and again over the years, because the person has become a significant figure representing freedom and promise. What a lot to heap onto a 16 year old, but I think we'll be hearing more like this from Malala in the next few years.

Wasn't she amazing? Such strength of character, she didn't seem fazed by it at all. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of her.

The speech was an inspiration, but she has inspirational parents. There was an article about her on the BBC News page saying how it was her parents, but particularly her father, who encouraged her to write the blog that led to her rise to world prominence.

Pakistan is a country with more illiterate children, especially girls, than any other country in Asia and many in Africa. The family lived in the Swat valley that for many months was under the control of the Taliban, het she kept her blog going with her parents support. I do think her parents should also be lauded for their own openness to the importance of education for girls and their courage in supporting her daughter when they must have known the dangers.

A remarkable family.
