Lovely to see, especially when they are so endangered. I'm always amazed at the way they know just what to do.

I believe there's a BBC programme about this birth. On the news, the actual birth was shown, with commentary from excited doctors and keepers, but I couldn't find that footage. Perhaps they're saving it for the broadcast.

We were at Dublin Zoo soon after a gorilla was born. It was lovely to see it being cuddled by it's mother. But, of all the the big apes orang utans have to be my favourite.

Just watched the footage of this baby orang-utan being born in Jersey. The mother had specialist (human) obstetric treatment after a previous miscarriage.
