Given Russia's history in the Olympic Games - particularly Tamara Press - I am amazed they are the ones to make this dreadful suggestion

If they are going to arrest gay people, some diplomatic action is needed before they go. There is a suggestion that all athletes hold hands with each other, regardless of whether they are gay or not, as a gesture of solidarity.

I haven't seen any references to this on here yet - have people seen Stephen Fry's open letter to David Cameron about the Winter Olympics and the Russian attitude to LGBT competitors, staff and anyone connected to the Olympics? The whole spirit of the Olympics is supposed to be open to all whatever race creed etc, so I don't see how they can just ignore the Russian threats to arrest gay people! There is a move to get the Games transferred to Canada rather than boycott them and I think there is an online petition about it.
