When I posted on another thread about those adverts, the response I got varied from it being entirely coincidental to me being paranoid!
By the way, going well up the thread I do not doubt the submariner, although a year seems a long time. Wars generally need a lot of advance planning, whether they finally go ahead or not. Submarines needed to be supplied and on station before a war starts, which means submarines getting sailing plans and setting out months in advance of the planned date for the start of hostilities. If you are on a submarine and your target destination 3 months ahead is off Iraq, it doesn't take much effort to put 2 and 2 together.
Newspapers had worked out the date the war was likely to start months in advance - and they were right. It was common knowledge that there were little or no links between Iraq and any of the terrorist organisations but it was known that GW wanted to finish the job Daddy started and from the day he was elected was looking for a reason to go to war against Saddam Hussein.
