I made a mistake, and referred to Chelsea Manning as him rather than her for which I apologise.
I hadn't realised the extent of neglect/abuse and oppression Chelsea experienced as a child, adolescent and young person until I read about her life recently. When Bradley was born medics suspected the baby had foetal alcohol syndrome. Throughout his childhood the child was neglected and emotionally abused by alcohol abusing parents. Their older daughter became the baby's carer until she left home when Chelsea/Bradley was 7 years old. Chelsea joined the army for two reasons. She was saving to fund her ambition to complete a degree, and she hoped her gender confusion would be cured by a macho environment. Riverwalk, I didn't see the Sky news piece you mention, thankfully. There are so many issues involved in this case, and I continue to hope that Edward Snowdon avoids being returned to the US to face this kind of "justice".
