Chris Huhne - has he learned nothing?

He broke the speed limit, bullied his wife into taking the blame, and lied..and lied...and lied about it, but she grassed him up and he received a short prison sentence for perverting the course of justice. But it wasn't his fault, you know - it was the fault of the Murdoch press. Why doesn't he just shut up and leave the stage gracefully?

He's probably right that he was put under the lens by Murdoch's people, but how does that justify what he did? I've seen more honesty from hardened criminals! He's obviously learned nothing from being in prison. Offenders with long lists of of previous convictions will often say you win some, lose some, but accept that repeated offending will eventually result in prosecution.

The statistics on speeding a few years back estimated that drivers will break the speed limit more than 60 times before getting caught. Now that many speed cameras have been de-commissioned, that's probably higher. Hughne took his chances and eventually got caught out. If he had come clean straight away, the punishment would have been less severe.

It's probably true that the Murdoch press was out to get him - or whichever prominent politician they could catch - but he is definitely the wrong person to be speaking out about it! Perhaps he feels that he now has nothing to lose and he may be right!
