Just read this from last Saturday's Guardian.
There are so many threads it could go in, but it deserves a thread of its own.

Quite agree, an excellent article, with ideas and links I am already pursuing.

Interesting article but where to start. When I was in Brisbane last year and using public transport, mainly trains, over the loudspeaker the passengers are referred to as customers. It irritated me, I know it seems to be a small thing but I don't like the way the world is going. Everything is geared to making money.

I've commented recently elsewhere that our economic system is incredibly weird and peculiar.
Why is inflation actually necessary for instance?

Limitless growth is impossible. Limitless resources are just not there. .....and endless increase of Earth's population means death.

This article does put in to words a lot of what I feel and can't articulate!

Vandana Shiva has been a global activist for many years and in spite of her academic background is able to covey her ideas in ways the ordinary person (me) can readily grasp. She is very highly regarded in this household.

Agree about limitless growth being impossible AlieOxon. It amazes me when you hear the announcement that Barclays profits are down from however many Billion.... (but they are still making massive profits) or M&S or whoever. Do they really think they should just go up and up and up forever?

Likwise houseprices in certain parts of the country. Where will this end?
