Nigella drug use

I am not condoning the low lives that supply Class A drugs and chances are that the people who use them probably don't want to know how it was supplied.

My main issue with cocaine feetle is the damage the trade causes in central and southern America. Not funny or clever if they stopped to think about Mexican drug mules etc etc.

I read somewhere in relation to the Pryce attempt at revenge on Huhne that a Chinese proverb says if you seek revenge you should dig two graves. I fear in this case Saatchi may have to do not two but four to include the two women as well as Nigella & himself. Too much money, too little emotional maturity, too much feeling of importance and that we should all care so much about their lives. And he must believe that drug addiction justifies him abusing his wife.

So exactly why is cocaine illegal? Is it anybody's business what the fair Nigella does, or doesn't snort up her hooter?

I'm not campaigning, but it seems to be taken for granted that the authorities should criminalise people for indulging in certain substances and not others.
After all, if it were not for such laws the peddlers would not be making a mint... Certainly in the case of cannabis we see official paranoia given full rein... Time for a proper reappraisal perhaps?

The Saatchi /Nigella saga is a real gift for the press! Glamour, wealth, sex, violence, divorce, drugs, blackmail... you couldn't make it up!

We do not really 'know' any of the players in this game: the Italian sisters, Nigella or Charles. We know their public personas which can be close to their real life selves or totally manufactured.

I suspect there are snippets of truth and chunks of exaggeration in the arena to say nothing of complete fabrication too! Meanwhile it distracts us all form the important things that are going on!

I agree that alcohol wrecks lives , but as it is not illegal, it does not have the knock on effect that buying drugs does.people who supply alcohol do not usually get involved in violent crime, and all the evil that happens in the drug dealing world. Do the people snorting cocaine after dinner as though it were no more harmless than an after dinner mint give a stuff about what is involved in supplying it to them?

Of course it is not illegal merlot and in many families my thinking is they probably wish it was. I do wonder if alcohol was 'discovered' now, would it still be legal given the evidence of the destruction it too causes?

According to the Telegraph he didn't know the age of his daughter or Nigella's children either....

You're twisting my words, JessM. I didn't say 'trying cocaine' and I wasn't referring to a bit of recreational drug use either. You're making it sound as though cocaine is no more harmful than a sherbet dib-dab.

Yes, Agus, Alcohol can also wreck lives and careers but it's not illegal and strange though it may seem, there would have been a fair bit of shoulder shrugging is Saatchi had accused his wife of being a drunk instead.

He's an objectionable man who will no doubt find it hard to get out of the hole he's still digging.

Equally, trying alcohol should be every parents nightmare. Alcoholism is rising rapidly causing much more damage to families re violence and anti social behaviour.

Could it be they have caught a cold that never clears up and causes them to sniff constantly

He said it was a happy home and he still loves her.... [vomit emoticon]

Poor Nigella ! No one knows what goes on behind closed doors.

How could you not know if your husband/wife was using drugs at home...

What a w****r.

Saatchi has now told the court that he doesn't know if Nigella took drugs and he regrets that the email has become public.
Right.

merlot - trying cocaine is 'every parent's nightmare' ? Yes addiction might be on the list of things one might worry about, if that is what you mean - but there are many other nightmares that are worse worries than a bit of recreational drug use - being the victim of a violent partner, life threatening illnesses, a lifetime of unemployment etc etc

I agree Eloethan hypocrisy really! but I got the impression that there was possibly more going on behind the behind the scenes re his relationship with Ian Hyslop and Paul Merton. Didn't come across as friendly or close.

I thought it was ridiculous that Angus Deayton was replaced on HIGNFY.

Richard Bacon is a TV presenter. Although Angus Deayton doesn't work for the BBC he still has television work on other channels.

Don't you think being grabbed by the throat by your husband in a very public place might make anybody look "manic"?? Are you assuming guilt then FOTW??Seem to have missed the Richard Bacon episode, anno - who is he?

Angus Deayton may not have worked for the Beeb again, but Richard Bacon most certainly has.

Also explains the rather manic look in her eyes.

Via Twitter this morning "Guardian - Whitney, Bodie, Kelly Clarkson p1, Peaches Geldof p3, Bodie p4, Cheryl Cole p5, Nigella p7 - not just tabloids living off celebs".

I think Nigella Lawson is a very clever lady who has got the measure of her ex and has kept almost entirely silent since the public event that caused the whole furore. Charles Saatchi should perhaps remind himself of the old adage 'when in a hole, stop digging'.

Angus Deayton never worked again for the Beeb after his cocaine habit was disclosed.I also think the US TV company concerned would want to distance themselves from this big question mark over Nigella's "happy family" image. Basically I think Saatchi has got this very carefully worked out. If he had made the accusations at the time of the divorce, his name was so blackened by his appallingly aggressive behaviour, not a lot of notice would have been taken. By leaving it until now he can arrange for things to be "revealed" in court (so no slander or libel accusations) and he gets massive publicity. Call me a cynic if you will.
