When so many people that would make wonderful parents have problems having children I find it very difficult to come to terms with people that have lots of them and then don't look after them properly . I live quite close to the house where all those children died in the house fire the other year.
Any young mother living alone and coping with five children would no doubt be under enormous stress. In my opinion the wee boy appeared to be under nourished. I wonder whether the social services had interacted with the family. Whatever...his short life is over...someone has to live with the knowledge that he/she was responsible. There is no rewind button.
The day that the little boy was reported missing, I was spending time with my wee great-grandson who is also 3. So trusting, so loving and so vulnerable. However, we don't yet know the full story, only that the little missing boy been found dead and that his mother has been detained. We can only surmise.
So sad. How anyone can harm a child is beyond my comprehension. I once heard someone say that protecting our young is in our DNA, some people obviously have something missing from theirs.
This was very sad news to wake up to this morning. Although have to admit to being not very surprised. It never did really look like the little boy had walked out of his own house during the night did it?
The wee boy has been apparently been found at a relative's house in a quite affluent area of the town. It is about 4 miles away from where I live. Hard to comprehend...
It's bad news I am afraid they have found a body in a cottage the other side of the Forth and are questioning the mother.
I have to say I am not at all surprised. This just confirms the statistical likelihood in these situations. More children are killed by their parents, relatives or cohabitees than are ever abducted by strangers.
Apparently, police are now investigating a house in Kirkcaldy where a relative of the mother lives.
It's heartbreaking- I said on another thread that the little boy reminds me of DGS2 and I can hardly bear to watch. Bertie is 2 today and will have a wonderful day - the contrast is too awful.
The offerer looked like he was going to break down. I said to Hubby yesterday, there's more to this than meets the eye. I said either mother to blame, or father abducted.
Just heard the news Pogs. In one day from Humanity at its best as 100s, 1000s of people dropped what they were doing and rushed to try to find him to Humanity at its worst. Poor little lad.
When I collected DGD2 from nursery today I noticed that the mums, dads and grandparents were somewhat subdued and their wee ones all seemed to get an extra cuddle and their hand held very tightly as they left the nursery.
My GC could dress themselves at three and put on their shoes that fastened with Velcro and even open the door but never known them to go outside at night or early in the morning. When children get up early they usually put on their dressing gowns and slippers and head for the TV. I feel this child may be with a relative, wasn't he the only boy amongst the children ?
The last I heard on the news, was that this child has not been back at his nursery class since Christmas because he had been poorly. All this has me increasingly worried about what might have happened.
