A UKIP councillor from Oxfordshire blames the recent storms and floods on the Government's decision to legalise gay marriage.

It really doesn't matter what the idiot's imaginary sky friend is supposed to be - his religion-based nuttery should be a good enough reason to keep him out of public office for good. Now that he's been suspended by UKIP, let's hope that's the last we'll hear from him.

There are plenty of other places around the world that elect idiots: we got one, a Tory, here in Queensland Australia: he got kicked out of State parliament for laziness and blatant dishonesty, causing a by-election, which will probably be won by the Labour candidate. Then there's that crack-smoking right-wing Canadian mayor, Rob Ford. And that's without even mentioning the American Tea Party.

I've always taken my vote seriously, and though I'm dyed-in-the-wool Labour, I look at the candidate's character and capability every time, and if the Labour candidate looked dodgy I would put in a blank ballot sheet (turning up to vote, or putting in a postal vote, is compulsory here)

Christianity is not really monotheistic. Trinity. Mary. Saints (demigods). Just for a start.

Can't speak for the others.

JessM Mon 20-Jan-14 08:52:05

Like the scary Hindu baby eating goddess thatbags? But there are not many cultures of any complexity in which the monotheistic deity is female. Are there?

thatbags Mon 20-Jan-14 08:40:38

Oh, I don't know, female gods through history don't have such great reputations.

thatbags Mon 20-Jan-14 08:40:01

Ukip have ditched that twit. Good. Give them credit for that (if nothing else). I think I'm saying don't blame Ukip for one of its (past) members. Other parties also eject people who do unacceptable things.

A woman wouldn't have made such a mess of things.

JessM Mon 20-Jan-14 08:05:00

Presumably because women have always had such a hard time, and continue to do so (world wide) and men run all the religions?

Iam64 Mon 20-Jan-14 07:46:20

Thanks heavens, MiceElf, I've been waiting for a word from her.
Aka - why can't god be a woman?

Joan Mon 20-Jan-14 00:23:57

Back to the OP: you have to wonder how such idiots get elected. His stupidity must have been evident before.

margaretm74 Sun 19-Jan-14 23:37:12

God the Father perhaps? Bit difficult if She's a female

Gracesgran Sun 19-Jan-14 23:26:37

MiceElf: love it.

Aka: I'm fascinated. Why not?

Aka Sun 19-Jan-14 22:33:24

MiceElf .. just one small point god cannot possibly be a woman.

Ana Sun 19-Jan-14 22:04:55

I think it's supposed to be ironic, POGS...hmm

POGS Sun 19-Jan-14 21:46:39

Pardon. confused

MiceElf Sun 19-Jan-14 21:35:58

I've just had God on the line. She blamed UKIP for the idiots that run the country and are doing their best to destroy cherished institutions. She LOVES weddings and said to remind everyone that heaven is an inclusive, multi cultural green and pleasant land, and that those who found that uncomfortable would have a VERY hard time settling down there.

Nonu Sun 19-Jan-14 21:25:36

I FOR ONE DO NOT

Ana Sun 19-Jan-14 21:14:35

Why will we be sorry? Surely we don't all buy into the 'leave Europe and we'll be doomed...' argument?

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jan-14 21:10:12

I agree here.

rosesarered Sun 19-Jan-14 20:51:30

UKIP may [or may not] be odd, funny, peculiar etc but they are also dangerous not harmless fools. The worry is that they will get a foot in the door of Parliament and we will all be sorry.

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jan-14 09:48:14

I saw this one. And wondered what the editors left out!

JessM Sun 19-Jan-14 09:36:08

They do seem to attract a motley bunch of misfits as candidates don't they.
That chap who went on Have I got News for You for instance who was the party treasurer, famed for his sexist pronouncements (women are not suited for the board of directors of a company etc).
The least funny HIGNFY ever as the woman on the other panel got increasingly tight lipped with fury. And Wheeler not funny anyway - he was invited on to be mocked.

Iam64 Sun 19-Jan-14 09:27:14

Aka - great image, grin

Aka Sun 19-Jan-14 09:23:39

Very 17th century.

If this lot are ever elected we'll be seeing expense claims, not for floating duck houses but for ducking stools instead.

Iam64 Sun 19-Jan-14 09:19:29

What a scary thought, that someone with beliefs like this has any power of influence in any area at all. Homophobic idiot.

Pogs - sadly Ukip seems to have attract rather more than its share of bigots

POGS Sun 19-Jan-14 01:37:43

I am not against a lot of UKIP statements but I would never vote for them in a general election.

I remember Godfrey B loom on Daily Politics and he was being challenged by a Labour MEP, can't remember her name. Basically she was saying UKIP don't agree with anything the European Parliament do but they never vote against it or show their faces. Bloom being the arrogant person he is said that was true they were always in the champagne bar. confused.

Mind you I thought then he was a t--s pot but I do not agree that his 'Sluts' comment was anything other than a joke and no more than an off the cuff comment some of us would make in fun on here.
