I would make a guess that many women of our parents' generation had extremely stressful pregnancies during the course of and immediately after World War II. This was also a time when not only were people unaware of the dangers of smoking but they were advised that smoking was beneficial to their health. Obvious result – masses of gay baby boomers.

I wondered why there seem to be so many more of them these days...wink

I smoked and had lots stress in the late 60's and early 70's when I gave birth to my daughters. Neither are gay. I don't know where they get this information from. I don't smoke now and wouldn't condone smoking during pregnancy but we didn't know any different then. I think I was told about low birth weight babies if you smoked, mine were 9lb 10oz and 8lb 2oz.

How does he explain cases of twins where one is gay and the other isn't? Presumably they were both in the same womb!

Good question Deedaa

Deedaa, I think the argument is that the non gay twin nicked all the relevant hormones.
Absent - spot on!

On the other hand..........
Quote: Gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell welcomed the professor’s ideas.

He said: ‘It is a slapdown for religious and political homophobes. If being gay is mostly or wholly determined by biological factors prior to birth, it is immoral to condemn or discriminate against lesbians and gay men.’

I suspect this is the DM being silly and mid-reporting some serious research into the effects of various stressors on brain development.
