Yes, I have heard of it, but with a title like that I am unlikely to read it.

Is there an "Immature Times" for the younger set?

It doesn't sound much fun.

I wonder why anyone ever thought that a title like that would attract readers.

My point is/was that they obviously have a target market, which would initially included all of us. OK, so most of us wouldn't have gone for it, but how many of us even knew of it's existence?

My other point is this, you can have the best product/service around, but if people don't know about it, it will fail! Example? Keith Dyson, developed a new product in his garage, it was getting the marketing and advertising right that made it successful.

The other side of the coin, is that IF you are thinking of launching a new publication, you do should do a certain amount of research within the target market (plus approaching those that you think might pay for advertising space with that magazine, as let's face it advertising is the main income for those publications)

So, apart from anyone knowing that this publication even existed, has anyone here been asked for their opinion?

Mollie said she can pick it up free in her library. So it's aimed at old people who like free newspapers and go to the library. Easy.

Whilst the word 'mature' can have a positive connotation as in wise, experienced etc it also has a staid and safe sound about it.. implies lacking in fun or frivolity to me!

So if it is a paper for the Wise and Experienced among us and who quite like a safe and staid approach to life it will hit its target audience!

I have seen it in my local library but the title would put me off. I have never read it for that reason.

I always felt that being referred to as mature made me feel like a lump of elderly cheese.

I have probably got this completely wrong but wasn't 'The Mature Times' dished out at the Post Office? If so then it has been going for a good ten to fifteen years.

I much prefer being referred to as the older generation because that is exactly what we are.

I still have a lot of maturing to do!

Having picked it up for my mum many times I can say that it's a useful way of finding out about issues like pensions etc. I know these things are published in mainstream media but not everyone can wade through all the other dross ... I think it's free so don't let the title put you off!

Yes, but the very title indicates that it doesn't take its readers' attitudes for granted!

Hey! It's free [I'm all for that] However, I have never seen it. Haven't been in a library for a while and have never noticed it anywhere else, so yes, it could do with more marketing.

'The Oldie' has an air of irony about it. 'Mature Times' just sounds so sensible clothes and lace-up shoes and smug.
