nankate, I think it's a joke that means that while ever a monarch all dolled up in rich fabrics and gold and jewels can talk about plastic bags all will be well – fairy tale getup on the one hand, cheap tat on the other, all in one bundle.

In short, we have not altogether lost touch with reality.

Or perhaps that the Queen has come down to her subjects' level, calling a spade a spade instead of a pre-fabricated polycarbonate receptacle.

<Pedant alert> Most plastic bags are made of polyethylene, not polycarbonate.

I'm glad we have such sprightly 88 year olds in the UK. I want to be Christine Lagarde when I grow up and the Queen when I retire. I will never get over seeing her walk up the steps to St Paul's without faltering . She has inspired me to walk up M&S stairs in Durham instead of the escalator.

I don't think the Queen uses plastic bags, I see her as more of a string bag person.

Yes, perhaps with a nice piece of wet fish wrapped up in newspaper poking out of it

Surely she would never buy fish but catch it like her mother.

I wonder if she was concerned at the proposal that no owners' permission will be needed to carry out fracking under private land/properties.

I thought she looked very frail and she jumped when that poor boy fainted. Have to say I am worried for her.
