grin but a guilty one at the vision in my mind of the Maltesers going off like a blunderbuss......how mortifying.

Good for Kevin. This makes him even more of a hero in my eyes. Anno I was once at the Royal Exchange when someone sitting in the 2nd gallery dropped a full box of Maltesers, which then ricocheted all over the stage, sounding like a volley of gunshots before being noisily crushed underfoot by the actors.

sunseeker Kevin Spacey can do no wrong in my eyes either....he has a really sexy voice blush. And I would love to see Tony Bennett too. I always have my phone with me and it is always on as I run my own business and as such seem to be on call 24 hours a day ( my fault I suppose) and because with teenagers at Uni and at home I always like to know they can keep in touch, but, when out with other people, at lunch, at cinema, at dinner or wherever, I have my phone on silent/vibrate. It really isnt difficult to organise. Now, back to Kevin Spacey......

Sorry I went off subject a bit there blush but it's another annoying thing that people do in theatres.

We went to see Tony Bennett a few years ago at Birmingham Symphony Hall. We've seen him a few times and he is fantastic, he seems such a gentleman.
He regales the audience with the same stories but nobody minds because he has had such a fascinating life and he seems so lovely. You can hear a pin drop in the hall while he speaks. Last time we went some idiot in the stalls kept shouting out totally irrelevant things such as 'I bet you can't stand Michael Buble, Tony' confused Tony Bennett kept saying 'pardon me sir, I can't quite make out what you are saying'. Later on in the show, Tony (we are on first name terms now grin ) said how much he admired Michael Buble. That finally shut this idiot up.

I often go to the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester with the U3A. One company, playing a Russian farce, had an innovative way of discouraging mobile phones. Before the play, they performed a mime showing what would happen to phones that went off during the performance, ending with it being smashed with a hammer. Everyone laughed and turned off their phones.

Apart from the fact that Kevin Spacey can do no wrong in my eyes - I think he was quite right - and he didn't break character!

I remember going to a concert and in the middle of a particular lovely piece of music someone's phone went off - he at least did look embarrassed.

I can't understand people who have to have their phones on all the time - mine spends more time switched off than on! Its off when I am driving, its off when I am seeing the doctor or dentist (including in the waiting rooms), its off when I am in church and its off when in the theatre or cinema!
