German politicians and media who have urged her to ignore British concerns and ram through Juncker

"We all know the reservations of some member states, for example Great Britain. To be clear, I do not share these reservations," Merkel said.

"But I also want to be clear that I find it grossly negligent, really unacceptable, the way some people are saying they couldn't care less whether Britain agrees, or even whether it remains a member of the European Union or not. This is anything but irrelevant, unimportant or trivial," she added.

Given the level of financial input from the UK, does the UK have more bargaining power than the EU officials acknowledge?

The four largest net contributors in absolute terms are Germany, France, Italy, UK

Out of the 27 states, only 11 contributed (according to the chart shown on the link)

Is Angela Merkel at least acknowledging the financial input of the UK? As the UK is one of the four top contributors to the EU funding, shouldn't the UK's concerns be taken a little more seriously?

I suppose we don't come out as a huge contributor compared to the other three, and maybe they think that they could afford to lose us, but balanced against the countries not contributing I think they are making a big mistake. I don't think they are allowing for our relatively stable position compared to Italy, say.
